This role will be a part of the Generation and Transmission (G&T) Business Group, which designs, manufactures and installs high voltage land and subsea cables for some of the world’s largest interconnector and renewable energy projects in the world.
The G&T Business Group comprises a mix of offices and factories located in Oslo, Halden, Rognan (Norway), Paris (France), New York City, Charleston (USA), Charleroi (Belgium) and Futtsu (Japan) and is part of the Nexans Group, with its headquarter in Paris
Role
The Contract Manager supports the Project Manager of the assigned project(s) and ensure that project(s) are delivered on time, on budget, with the required quality and within agreed specifications. Contract Manager manages risks and opportunities to achieve objectives of the Business Group.
Areas of responsibility
During Project Execution:
As part of the Project Manager’s team:
Facilitates Contract Review during project establishment - and contract awareness as well as contract management strategies during the execution phase, Overall responsibility for all commercial and contractual Project activities – and advise the PM accordingly Manages the contract of the assigned project(s), including – but not limited to – the following: Ensures contract obligations are known and followed by the project team Manages Variation Orders (VOR/VO) and Claims Manages Disputes Reviews and drafts correspondence taking into consideration Clients rights and obligations, Nexans rights and obligations and expectations, including profitability requirements and impact on schedule and Internal procedures, including the Project Model Optimizes project execution by identifying and controlling contractual risks and opportunities Organizes and leads project stakeholders for contractual matters in order to obtain relevant information and to achieve the best possible co-operation between the involved parties Assists or facilitates when agreed, obtainment of permits and approvals from stakeholdersAssists when making Sub-Contracts/Purchase Orders and manages in coordination with Purchasing execution of Sub-Contracts with the objective to promote and protect Nexans rights and expectations, including profitability requirements and impact on schedule in the management of subcontractors and Suppliers Assists the PM with reports according to Contract and Stakeholders requirements Assists the PM with internal reporting – and identify and report deviations relating to contractual matters Assists the Project with Contract analysis as required for the reporting to the Steering Committee, whenever deviations or need for changes to the given mandate (contract, budget, resources) Assists the PM with other reporting according to senior management requirements
During Tendering Stage
Captures and reports Lessons Learned from project execution Reviews Contract Docs and proposes improvements based on experience Focus on improving task that impact the day to day workings of the project Supports and contributes to improvements / changes within the organization
Development of contract management culture
Develops in Nexans awareness on contract management matters Identifies areas of improvement in contract management matters Shares lessons learned, past experiences, benchmarks Contributes to the transfer of knowledge among Contract Managers and within the contract management and legal community by sharing lessons learned, past experiences, benchmarks Participates to creation of and use of common contract management tools such as common templates.Expected results
Contractual leadership throughout project execution – maintain focus on articles and conditions for the main contract - and the contracts towards sub-contractors/suppliers Deliver projects within agreed use of time, cost and quality Focus on opportunities and turn opportunities into positive results Limitation and mitigation of Project risks Full coordination with legal function and other Contract Managers Effective Stakeholder communicationPosition sizing (A few key indicators of the position such as: Turnover, Budget, Sales volume, number of N-1 etc.)
Based on number of projectsRequired skills and qualifications
University degree in a relevant field (e.g. Law, Finance, Business, Engineering). Some industry knowledge and experience Strong communication and negotiation skills for interactions with regulatory bodies and stakeholders. Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities. Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced project environment Take Responsibility, Global Team Player, High Standards, Risk awareness and Business acumen Ability to deal with customers and internally in challenging situations Be responsive, practical, ability to make people understand your position; ability to listen and create consensus.
