Contractor Situational Analysis / Strategic Planning
Job Description Context: Activities in Central America & the Caribbean are centered around the goals and objectives of the Pediatric Hemato-Oncology Association of Central America (AHOPCA), a longstanding cooperative group that aims to improve childhood cancer care in the region. The next AHOPCA annual conference will be held in Panama in February of 2025. It serves as a good opportunity to conduct a situational analysis of activities and opportunities in the sub-region, and to leverage information gathered before, during, and after the conference to guide strategic planning. General Objectives: To conduct a situational analysis of the Central America & Caribbean sub-region and identify priority actions for the 2025-2026 calendar years. To attend the AHOPCA 2025 meeting, support content development, and evaluate the current activities conducted in collaboration with the cooperative group. To identify gaps and opportunities in the Central America & Caribbean sub-region beyond what is being conducted in collaboration with AHOPCA. Specific Objectives: To evaluate the current state, barriers, and facilitators to the implementation and/or sustainability of active projects and propose necessary actions, including but not limited to the Registry, Flow Cytometry Capacity and Capability-building Project, Centralized Neuroblastoma Pathology Project, Centralized Sarcoma Pathology Project, and Drug Quality Project. To propose actions to strengthen AHOPCA as a cooperative group and/or a scientific society. To assess opportunities for engagement with additional stakeholders, institutions, and/or countries in the sub-region. Propose strategic planning actions and timeline for the region for the 2025 and 2026 calendar years. Activities to be Developed: Documentary review: Background analysis and previous reports of AHOPCA. Key queries: Interviews and focus groups before, during, and after AHOPCA-2025. Situational Analysis: Identification of current state, barriers, and opportunities. Formulation of solutions: Summary and development of specific recommendations. Preparation of a strategic plan: Proposed strategic planning actions and timeline. Expected Products: Discovery Phase Report: Document including the summary of the data sources reviewed and interviews conducted. Situational Analysis Report: Document including the current state, barriers, and facilitators. Proposed Solutions: Document summarizing the specific recommendations and their rationale. Strategic Planning Plan: Document. Methodology: Qualitative and quantitative data collection. Participatory analysis with key stakeholders. Validation of preliminary findings with internal stakeholders. Iterative report development with input from internal stakeholders.
