Join our team as a Contracts Manager and lead the legal reviews of contracts in the tender phase for our Transport & Infrastructure team across Australia. Reporting to the General Manager Commercial & Risk the successful candidate will deliver expert advice reviewing contracts, drafting of departures and/or bespoke contract terms. We are seeking a qualified lawyer with significant experience in the construction industry (legal counsel or similar) or for those eager to transition from private practice to the dynamic infrastructure industry! This role can be based out of Melbourne, Brisbane or Eastern Creek.
Key Responsibilities
Opportunity and Bid Management: Tender phase legal review of contracts, development and implementation of effective contractual strategies for opportunities, bids and contract negotiations. Contract Drafting: Create bespoke contract terms and documents. Project Delivery: Provide specialist support in contract and risk management, issue resolution and dispute management Project Planning: Support implementation of contract administration processes and strategies for awarded contracts. Training and Development: Support the development of training packages and upskill project and commercial resources. Governance Approval: Prepare presentations and present to Tender Governance Board for approval of tenders.What you’ll bring
Tertiary qualifications in Law and prior practicing experience as a Construction Contracts Lawyer (ideally 7+ years post admission) or significant equivalent experience (if not legally qualified) Proven experience in the preparation and drafting of contract agreements, including interpreting and applying contract terms and legislation provisions. Sound working knowledge of risk mitigation principles and the contractual implementation thereof. Excellent working knowledge of Australian construction contracts. Collaborative communication style with the ability to work effectively as a member of the team. Negotiation and influencing skills to achieve desired outcomes. Builds and maintains effective relationships with both internal and external clients and stakeholders.
