The Contracts Paralegal reports directly to the Deputy Legal Counsel and oversees the contracts workflow for NAH, from contract creation and negotiation through execution, database filing, and performance support, in addition to related business functions and administrative responsibilities. The Contracts Paralegal provides management support for insurance coverage, assists with compliance for existing NAH Corporate Insurance Lines and applications for new lines as deemed necessary; the Contracts Paralegal works directly with the Risk and Insurance Program Manager on insurance matters. The Contracts Paralegal supports the Legal Department generally in all matters, which may include litigation, regulatory investigations, compliance review, government relations, and transactions. Additional administrative functions include, but are not limited to: facilitating payment of legal invoices, documentation, and reporting; uploading and maintenance of contracts in the NAH contract management system; scheduling and interfacing with other NAH departments; legal research; drafting legal documents and correspondence; and performing related administrative and clerical tasks.
ResponsibilitiesContract Support
* Assists with the design and implementation of NAH’s contract workflow process and contracts database management system.
* Day-to-day monitoring and facilitating of NAH leaders’ compliance with contract workflow, including contract creation, price benchmarking, interdepartmental review for resource availability, protection of private information through Corporate Compliance review, and signatures through proper authority.
* Regularly updates and audits NAH’s contract processes.
* Serves as a resource to and assists all NAH departments and leaders in utilizing the contracts workflow, contract process compliance, and insurance compliance.
* Participates in relevant NAH Committee Meetings, such as the Purchased Services Stewardship Committee.
* Drafts, reviews, and revises various contracts under the direction of NAH Legal Counsel.
* Recommends improvements for all aspects of NAH’s contracts process, templates, and database.
Insurance Office Support
* Assists the Manager of Risk and Insurance Programs and Legal team to initiate, complete, and transmit initial insurance applications and renewal applications, and maintains all related filings on behalf of various NAH facilities
* Interacts with and assists the Manager of Risk and Insurance Programs, NAH Legal Counsel, and its insurance brokers, to facilitate claim resolution, and maintain corporate insurance line.
* Serves as a resource to and assists all NAH departments and leaders in ensuring compliance with insurance programs and contractual insurance requirements.
Administrative
* Schedule meetings, maintain calendars, compose written communications for all NAH Legal Counsel and Government Affairs team, as necessary.
* Responsible for coding and facilitating payment of legal invoices incurred by NAH.
Compliance/Safety
* Monitor and track timelines and response dates from regulatory bodies.
* Maintain technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and reviewing publications.
* Responsible for reporting any safety-related incident in a timely fashion through the Midas/RDE tool; attends all safety-related training programs; performs work in a safe manner; monitors work environment for possible safety issues and ensures others are also performing work in a safe manner.
* Stays current and complies with state and federal regulations/statutes and company policies that impact the employee's area of responsibility.
* If required for the position, ensures all certifications and/or licenses are up-to-date and valid prior to expiration dates.
* Completes all company mandatory modules and required job-specific training in the specified time frame.
