The Contracts Specialist plays a crucial role in negotiating contracts to ensure contractual instruments align with organizational policies. This commercial contracts role requires a proactive and meticulous negotiator with prior industry commercial contracts experience, ideally with a life science background to help understand the scientific language in intake and material transfer agreements (MTA) for biological materials. Our ideal candidate will have the ability to comprehend and scrutinize the fine print that is often overlooked by others.

Responsibilities Contract Negotiation: Draft, negotiate and edit agreements from terms sheet to execution with an eye toward balancing risk mitigation with the advancement of organizational objectives, ensuring all documentation, negotiation, correspondence, certification, and reporting are handled efficiently. Review contractual documents to ensure they adhere to organizational policies and conform to master agreements.Communication and Reporting: Manage communication channels, including a department inbox, to facilitate smooth information flow. Prepare and analyze spreadsheets, generate reports on contract activity, and ensure timely processing of department reports and deliverables.Special Projects: Participate in the negotiation and preparation of agreements, amendments, specifications, tests, and progress reports, and contribute to special projects as required. Qualifications Bachelor's degree and 2-5 years' experience or equivalent experience.2-5 years' contract negotiation experience (preferred)Deep understanding of standard contract provisions, contract law and contract enforceability. Excellent negotiation, language drafting and communication skills.Proficiency in using contract management software and Microsoft Office Suite.Detail-oriented with strong organizational and multitasking abilities.Ability to apply organizational policies and procedures to resolve problems.Background in biology or experience within a life sciences organization preferred.
