About the role:
Are you ready to step into a versatile and dynamic position that combines technical expertise with hands on operational support? As a Relief Control Room Operator (CRO), you will play a critical role in ensuring smooth operations both in the control room and across site. This unique role offers diversity, combining the technical precision of a Control Room Operator with additional site support duties that are essential to maintaining safe and efficient underground operations.
Reporting to the Shift Coordinator, you will step into the control room when required, managing critical systems and monitoring operations. Outside the control room, you'll assist with fire officer and ERC duties, equipment checks, general site upkeep, and much more. Your key responsibilities:
Control Room Operations: Step into the control room as needed, monitoring production systems, managing alarms, and ensuring the seamless flow of communication between teams. Fire Officer and ERC Duties: Conduct equipment checks on fire extinguishers, self-contained self-rescuers (SCSR), and fire reels to maintain safety compliance. Underground and Surface Support: Start-of-shift checks to ensure supplies and parts are available for underground operations; calibrate gas chromatographs and process gas bags. Compliance and Audits: Conduct tag board audits, manage lamp room operations, including cap lamp, SCSR, and PGD inventory, and update safety notices and MRE documents. Site Maintenance and Logistics: Perform yard and warehouse duties, escort delivery vehicles on site, assist the longwall project team with forklift operations, and prestart/fuel light vehicles and transporters. General Support: Assist with camp liaison, bathhouse maintenance, locker management, and basic handyman tasks; print and distribute documentation for crews. Safety and Wellbeing: Conduct D&A testing when the paramedic is unavailable and ensure muster, go-line, and surrounding areas remain clean and operational.
About you:
We’re looking for a proactive and adaptable team player who thrives in a varied and dynamic environment. You bring a mix of technical skills, operational knowledge, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently. To excel in this role, you will have:
Qualifications and Skills: Experience in control room operations with the ability to step into the role seamlessly. Preferred Trainer and Assessor qualifications to assist with team training needs. Forklift ticket and experience in warehouse or yard operations (preferred). Knowledge of open cut and underground mining processes to support decision-making. Attributes: Strong organizational skills to manage diverse responsibilities effectively. A safety-first mindset with a keen eye for compliance and standards. Problem-solving skills to address issues promptly and collaboratively. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to coordinate across teams and liaise with stakeholders. Mandatory Requirements: Current Coal Board Medical or ability to obtain one. D&A testing competency or willingness to acquire certification.

This position is offered on a 7 days on 7 days off roster and can allow for a residential (Moranbah) DIDO or FIFO from Brisbane.
