The following position is to join our RTX Research Center team: 

The Combustion and Propulsion Technology (CPT) Discipline at RTX Technology Research Center is seeking a candidate to join its Aerothermal Test Team as a Control System Technician. 

What You Will Do:

The Aerothermal Test Team maintains and operates two large test facilities: the Jet Burner Test Stand, and the Compressor Test Facility, both of which are utilized heavily to drive innovation for the RTX business units.  

Integral to the operation of these facilities are numerous electro-mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic components controlled via PLC-based systems. 

The Control System Technician will work with a team of Engineers and Technicians to modify, upgrade, maintain and operate these systems.

Due to the nature of the experimental testing, flexible scheduling and multi-shift test support will be required.

Qualifications you must have:

AA/AS degree (or other 2-year post high school training) with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience. Certification may be required for technical support roles.

Experience in the assembly, wiring, and setup of control systems using Allen Bradley PLC hardware and their associated standard industrial control signals and experience with programming and/or interpreting ladder logic style PLC code and HMI/SCADA environments.

Experience using multimeters, scopes, and other common electrical test equipment to physically check wiring and components to locate malfunctions and perform necessary repairs using wiring standard practices for AC and DC voltages (Max 120VAC) and ability to read, interpret, and work from electrical schematics, panel layouts, and industrial operating manuals.

Documentation and computer skills (MS-Excel)

Mechanical skills with ability to perform light fabrication work such as assembly and modification of electrical enclosures

U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Qualifications We Prefer:

Expertise with building and operating Allen Bradley PLC control systems.

Experience with programming PLC’s using Rockwell Automation’s programming software (RSLogix 5000 and RSLogix 5) and development of HMI/SCADA applications using FactoryTalk View Site Edition

Experience creating and editing electrical drawings in AutoCAD.

Experience with electro-pneumatic, hydraulic and mechanical system integration with PLC-based control system in a test facility or experimental lab environment

Associates in Applied Science (AAS) in Industrial Controls, Instrumentation & Controls Technology, or similar post high school study.

The salary range for this role is 59,000 USD - 125,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
