Overview:
Join our team as a Control Systems Designer in our Houston office, where you will play a pivotal role in creating cutting-edge designs that support global projects. In this dynamic environment, you will have the opportunity to contribute to innovative solutions in a range of industries, including natural gas processing, petrochemicals, and renewable energy.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Provide operational supervision and technical guidance to designers and drafters, ensuring efficient workflow and adherence to project timelines.
+ Prepare layouts, study drawings, and detailed 2-D and 3-D Computer Aided Design (CAD) models and construction drawings.
+ Review and interpret Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) to produce high-quality instrument location plans, wiring diagrams, installation details, and hookup details.
+ Model instruments, junction boxes, remote I/O panels, and more using S3D.
+ Monitor compliance with relevant codes, design standards, and engineering practices to guarantee reliable and safe plant operations.
+ Collaborate with project engineers and administrative personnel to define engineering scope changes and report on work progress.
+ Conduct job site visits as necessary to resolve issues and ensure clarity in design interpretation.
+ Lead on-the-job training for team members and engage in annual performance reviews to foster career development within the organization.
Qualifications:
+ A recognized degree in engineering or a related scientific discipline, or specialized courses in drafting and design.
+ Extensive experience in design and drafting with proficiency in Microstation, SmartSketch, and SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI).
+ Comprehensive understanding of international design standards, including IEC and NFPA 70.
+ Proven experience in reviewing and analyzing complex vendor packages.
+ Specific experience with petrochemical and LNG projects is strongly preferred.
+ Ability to develop innovative strategies to reduce total installed costs (TIC) on project deliverables.
+ Familiarity with industry and regulatory standards, engineering practices, and design criteria relevant to the discipline.
Must-Have Qualifications:
+ Proficient in creating detailed design documents, inclusive of instrument specifications, plans, and diagrams.
+ Strong leadership skills and the ability to supervise a design team effectively.
+ Previous experience in managing projects on FEEDs or proposals as a Lead Designer.
+ Demonstrated ability to interact with equipment suppliers and client representatives to clarify technical requirements.
