Control Systems Field Engineer
Position Title: Control Systems Field Engineer Location: Redstone Arsenal Position Type: Full-Time Position Summary: The Control Systems Field Engineer directly supports the Government customer at the headquarters and conducts inventories of Control Systems at locations under the organization’s purview. The preferred candidate will be well-versed in common Control Systems Architecture design principles and possess operational knowledge of standard Control System processes. In this role, the candidate is expected to work with minimal guidance, in a cross-functional team, ensuring reports and recommendations are effectively communicated and actioned to support the Government customer and the mission requirements. The work is performed in both office and field environments and requires the candidate to facilitate meetings, training, and develop briefing material for senior leadership. Candidates will serve as the primary point of contact during all phases of the inventory. + Responsible for leading onsite inventory activities, producing highly detailed inventory information of FRCS, ICS, and SCADA systems. + Ability to professionally execute an inventory, including but not limited to development of specified project deliverables, technical reports, executive summaries, trip reports, general correspondence, and other reporting requirements as directed by the Government customer. Ability to effectively communicate with stakeholders from various organizations, internal and external to the Army, as well as delivering technical briefings to stakeholders and executive leadership. + This position requires works under limited supervision and is expected to take individual initiative in planning and performing work. Must have above foundational understanding of operational technology to understand the mission requirements. + Ability to articulate the Purdue Model and how it is implemented. + Ability to read and interpret Flow Diagrams and as built drawings + Reading and reviewing Electrical schematics for Control Systems + Troubleshoots TCP/IP, Modbus, OPC, and network communications issues (can vary greatly depending on SCADA system and protocols in use). + Suggests Control System replacement (end of life, policy requirements, etc.) and assists stakeholders and the Government customer with recommendations for upgrades and/or replacement. + Performs data analysis of events or processes to help identify and make (automation) suggestions to resolve and prevent future issues. + Interfaces with multiple teams and stakeholders as well as the Department of Public Works (DPW) and the Department of Emergency Services (DES) Plant DCS, OSI PI team, and Scheduling team. Provides training and support to all team members on the program. + Responsible for supporting and guiding control systems inventory team members during inventories. + Ensures optimal team performance while adhering to standardization and data normalizations guidelines. Required Qualifications: + High School or equivalent. Bachelor’s degree preferred. + 8 years of related work experience required. + Other duties as assigned. + Ability to interpret network topologies, data flow diagrams, and other system/network schematics. + Expert-level knowledge of desktop applications including MS Word, Excel, and Outlook. + Strong written and oral communication skills, detail oriented, strong organizational skills. + Proven ability to multi-task and prioritize responsibilities. + Excellent attention to detail and diligent adherence to deadlines and deliverables. + A high-level performer with the ability to be proactive and respond rapidly to changing conditions in a fast-paced environment. + Requires at least 25% travel to CONUS and OCONUS sites. + The Control Systems Analyst may be exposed to construction sites, electrical, loud noises, fumes, odors, insects, snakes, poor ventilation, and extreme temperatures. + Must be able to stand, walk, climb stairs and ladders, drive, and lift up to 50 pounds. + Will require a valid Passport.
