Control Systems Modernization Consultant

Based out of our Emerson Innovation Center in Austin, TX. (alt locations: Houston, TX, St. Louis, MO, Lenexa, KS), you will combine your technical expertise, project management, and consultative selling skills to help end users plan and modernize their automation infrastructure and achieve their business goals.

This is a highly visible role, supporting Emerson’s DeltaV process control system technology suite across a variety of industries. This is a unique opportunity to join a rapidly growing business and be part of a dynamic team with global responsibility for driving our strategic growth in the industry.

In this Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

Support customers in starting their control systems modernization journey Walk down sites, supporting FEL1/2 efforts and order of magnitude/budgetary project cost estimating Develop and apply technical strategies that meet customer objectives while minimizing costs Support Emerson’s global sales account leaders as a technical domain expert in seeking new business opportunities Develop marketing content and demonstrations, present our system migration solutions and project execution capabilities to customers and internal partners Perform onsite opportunity assessments and quantify the potential benefits of modern automation Consult with project execution teams to propose the right technical strategy and competitive approach Help plan and develop new standards, tools, and solutions, working with Product Marketing teams and program managers to define requirements and technology direction

You are instantly credible. You are tech savvy, while balancing business insight to know when and where technology is best applied. You are a self-starting professional who can manage projects, build a strategy, and successfully implement a plan. You are a comfortable and skilled communicator that can craft a message and back it up with technical chops.

For This Role, You Will Need:

Bachelor’s degree in an engineering or similar field and 8+ years of experience working directly with controls systems OR Master's degree in an engineering or similar field and 7+ years of experience working directly with controls systems Experience with capital project planning processes (FEL1/2, FEED, etc) Familiarity with Emerson’s control system portfolio and architecture Willing and able to travel 25% or more, including internationally Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future.

Preferred Qualifications that Set You Apart:

Significant experience in planning and driving control systems modernization projects Experience with the DeltaV control systems Good understanding of operations, finance, and marketing Experience developing business cases and justification for projects Experience presenting to an executive level audience Experience with cutover and commissioning of control systems, including hot and cold cutover strategies Experience in project management Experience with Schneider and/or Siemens control systems, such as PCS7, APACS, Foxboro I/A, Triconex, and Modicon. Experience with other legacy DCS, SIS, and PLC-based control systems
