Caterpillar Inc. seeks Control Systems Senior Engineer at its facility located at 2427 E Engine Drive, Chillicothe, IL 61523. Engage in the design, development, and deployment of Caterpillar Electronic Systems and Controls supporting the Oil & Gas industries. Develop system designs and architecture, define strategies and controls, and work with the program lead and development team to integrate strategies into a working system that meets program needs. Significant coordination and interfacing are required across organizations to execute job responsibilities. Responsible for development of Caterpillar products to serve the Oil & Gas industry, including being a primary local Electronics interface for the Cat Oil &Gas team in Houston. Develop and validate control system strategies and functionality. Collaborate with internal customers and team members to develop software specifications. Test and verify components, system, and strategy operation on benches, at test sites, and in applications. Perform system validation of solutions and strategies to ensure 100% effectiveness. Responsible for project schedule coordination with the team. Responsible for diagnostic and Service Test system design. Responsible for robust integration to ensure superior performance, durability, quality, and Serviceability. Responsible for FMEA engagement and proactive risk mitigation. Responsible for NPI issue management. Responsible for field data and diagnostic monitoring. Responsible for component selection from suppliers. Responsible for Controller harnessing architecture and pinout definition. REQS: This position requires a Master’s, degree, or foreign equivalent, in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Embedded Engineering or a related field Plus 4 years of experience as a hardware in the loop design and validation engineer or related. Additionally, the applicant must have employment experience with: (1) 2 years of experience using CAN protocol and CAN tools for system configuration and data analysis; (2) 2 years of experience designing tests and test automation; (3) Ethernet protocol and Ethernet tools; (4) Creating and executing test plans on a closed loop test bench with Engine, Transmission control systems; (5) Automating test plans on closed loop test bench; (6) Utilizing Simulink to step through and debug code; (7) Data processing tools to analyze field data and troubleshoot field issues; and (8) Creating harnesses, and troubleshooting test bench setup.
