Control Systems Specialist

POSITION SUMMARY:
Provide process control systems support in the refinery. The Control Systems Specialist is the primary resource for hardware/software maintenance and lifecycle planning for refinery control systems.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Hardware and Software Maintenance - 

Monitor DCS and SIS performance, evaluate and act on system alarms to correct problems.Troubleshoot and work with Maintenance on failed DCS and SIS hardwareDevelop and maintain PM procedures for DCS and SIS equipment and maintain completed PM documentationCoordinate vendors work on DCS and SIS equipmentLead DCS and SIS software and firmware upgradesMaintain spare parts inventory for all DCS and SIS equipmentOwn DCS and SIS system failure metrics (hardware and software), update problem reporting database.Single point of contact for Operator console concerns in the Central Control Building.Inspect and maintain all Process Control cabling. Work with the DCS Operational Technology (OT) to own all process control fiber for each system.Read and take action on DCS and SIS vendor product alerts and notifications.Lead for projects to refresh DCS and SIS hardware and perform software version updates.Develop multi-year plan for DCS and SIS hardware refreshAssist DCS OT (Refining IT Operational Technology) group with removal of failed Process Control Network equipment from the live network.  Equipment to be repaired by the DCS OT group

Process Control Management - 

Tune DCS control loops.Troubleshoot controller performance issues.Support I&E Maintenance with new control loop implementation and existing loop troubleshooting.PLC programming

Small and Large CAPEX Project Roles -

Participate in project design, FAT, SAT and implementation of new DCS and SIS hardware.Support projects as lead for new PLC installation. Lead PC rep for design, testing and implementation of new systems and/or logic.Support commissioning of new DCS control loops and SIS applications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Minimum of an associates degree in a relevant field.Process Control/PLC experience is preferred. 

DESIRABLE SYSTEM EXPERIENCE:

Experience with Honeywell Experion, Triconex, Rockwell, Emerson Proficy
