General Description:
We are looking for a Finance Professional to join our European finance team on a fixed term contract for 1 year. This is a key position for an experienced, ambitious finance professional who is motivated to contribute to setting up the finance function as BeiGene builds out its presence across the globe. The position will deal with a broad range of accounting & controlling topics, including supporting FICO projects for entities under our responsibility. The incumbent must bring strong US GAAP and local GAAP knowledge combined with a strong knowledge of SAP S/4 Hana. The incumbent must take the lead to deal with strategic and process enhancements as well as a hands-on approach to accounting tasks, ensuring accurate and timely closings. Strong communication and cultural sensitivity are required to coordinate the activities of outsourced services and collaborate with colleagues in the US, Europe, and Asia. As a valuable resource to the organization the incumbent is proactive and brings strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work in a non-structured evolving environment.
Essential Functions of the job:
• Lead and coordinate the accounting processes and activities for assigned European, Middle East and Africa entities ensuring GL accuracy and completeness, supporting the monthly financial close process, ensuring all transactions are properly recorded, reviewing journal entries, account balance reconciliations and report preparation.
• Obtain an understanding of each legal entity’s Gross to Net Revenue methodology, ensuring proper revenue recording, working with 3PL and local finance directors to ensure accruals and reconciliations are also properly maintained.
• Co-ordinate, in markets where applicable, the accounting of our third-party logistics partner interacting with FP&A and Inventory Management stakeholders as appropriate.
• Support the execution of assigned SOX controls in a timely manner.
• Act as primary point of contact for our auditors (EY) for legal entities assigned.
• Lead the preparation of statutory accounts for assigned legal entities, ensuring appropriate communication and coordination of activities with Legal, Tax and FP&A departments too.
• Oversee the reconciliation between US GAAP and Local GAAP ledgers and understand the statutory adjustments and other local requirements that lead to the final Statutory Financial Statements.
• Manage the relationship with the local accounting outsourcing partner.
• Partner with the FP&A team members to ensure the appropriate quality and integrity of financial information is upheld, in addition to keeping up to date with business developments in the assigned entities.
• Collaborating on Treasury matters as needed such as bank account fundings, IC settlement and capital injection, working with the Treasury team and FP&A team as required
• Ensure all payroll data prepared by outsourcing partner/Payroll Teams are accurately booked in SAP
• Ensure that any manual Journal Entries are properly recorded with supporting backup in the accounting system, and align as applicable with Management, Corporate and FP&A on any adjustments needed
• Participate in the ongoing development/establishment of accounting policies and procedures and operational strategies including the review and implementation of process and ERP system changes
• Participate and represent the accounting function in any assigned projects.
• Share best practices and provide operational assistance on Accounting and SAP topics
• Stay updated with all changes ongoing in the BeiGene organization, and provide appropriate guidance to Business and other stakeholders on accounting processes and best practices
Requirements:
• Accounting/Business/Finance Bachelor degree with minimum 8+ years of Accounting experience, including ideally in Accounting and Procurement functions too
• Multinational finance environment with a proven track record of leadership and driving process improvements, ideally within the life sciences/pharma industry
• Strong understanding of USGAAP, European accounting standards, tax regulations(especially VAT)
• Ability to work effectively in a remote working model
• Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP 4 Hana)
• Good presentation skills and ability to articulate clearly in a compelling manner the interests, evolution and status of projects assigned
• Project Management experience a plus
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Desire to work in a fast paced, changing (currently unstructured) environment
• Excellent communication skills combined with cultural sensitivity, excellent spoken/written English – any other languages a plus
