Experienced leader responsible for accounting and financial reporting, cash management, licensing administration and royalty accounting, ancillary human resources and corporate operations of JDPI, an independent trademark holding and management company for worldwide iconic brands. This person is the chief accounting and financial employee of JDPI and, as such, must have broad-based analytical skills, excellent communication and problem-solving skills and be able to work with a high degree of independence. This role also presents the financial results semi-annually to the Board of Directors **Meaningful Work From Day One:** - Responsible for establishing and maintaining the organization’s accounting principles, practices, and procedures. - Develops and implements accounting practices consistent with methodologies in place for Brown-Forman Corporation. - Monitors adherence to internal controls, compliance with financial processes, and account reconciliation procedures. - Responsible for reporting financial results to the parent corporation for consolidation and performs necessary accounting procedures and reconciliations. - Serve as key financial contact and member of the Jack Daniel’s Licensing Counsel. - Manage, develop, and lead the Legal Billing Coordinator/Account Payable Accountant. - Serve as a member of the JDPI leadership team and assist in management of the operations of JDPI. - Responsible for implementation of employee policies and procedures. - Ensures that JDPI is in compliance with California and Federal labor laws. - Oversees the selection and use of various financial and licensing software applications, including accounting (SAP by Design), matter spend management (Legal Tracker), payroll (BambooHR), licensing (OpSec), and other ancillary applications. - Leads continuous quality improvement and process for reengineering efforts to improve entity effectiveness and to ensure that the accounting practices are compliant with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), SOX, and internal policies. - Drafts and consults on financial provisions of licensing agreements and negotiates with licensees on deal terms when needed. - Manages royalty audits of licensees through an external audit firm and negotiates with licensees on settlement of the audit findings. **What You Bring to the Table:** Education: College/University (Bachelors or Equivalent); Accounting or Finance Certifications: CPA Experience: - CPA with Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance and at least ten or more years of accounting management experience - Public accounting experience with an international firm is preferred - Demonstrated understanding and working knowledge of GAAP - Well versed in banking and cash management - Understanding of foreign currency transactions - Experience with budgeting and variance analysis - Prior hands-on experience processing payroll - Proficient with Microsoft Office Products and Google Workspace equivalents - Demonstrated knowledge of advanced general ledger and reporting systems - Self-directed, highly motivated, demonstrating excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) - As the lead accounting and financial employee of JDPI, must be independently resourceful in determining correct treatment of new accounting issues as business requirements warrant - Able to discuss general business issues and to translate requirements into accounting implications and action plans - Problem-solving abilities, able to multi-task and to manage time to meet deadlines; self-starter and finisher; professional attitude - Proactive in recommending positive changes in procedures and controls - Knowledge of California employment and wage and hours regulations **Who We Are:** We believe great people build great brands.
