Description We are looking for an experienced Controller to join our team in Conklin, New York. This is a contract position offering a unique opportunity to oversee financial operations for a large organization with 20+ locations across four states. The role demands a hands-on approach to managing accounting processes, ensuring compliance, and supporting the organization’s financial success. Responsibilities: • Manage month-end close processes, ensuring accurate and timely reporting of financial results. • Prepare and file state tax returns while maintaining compliance with tax regulations. • Perform audits and coordinate with external firms as needed to support financial operations. • Oversee 401(k) audits and related activities to ensure compliance with employee benefit plans. • Utilize Epicor Profit 21 software to streamline accounting functions and improve operational efficiency. • Collaborate with the accounts payable and credit teams to ensure smooth financial operations. • Monitor and control budget processes, providing insights for cost management and financial planning. • Maintain a strong understanding of S-corp financial structures and reporting requirements. • Provide guidance and support for financial processes related to the Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP). Requirements • Proven experience as a Controller or similar financial leadership role. • Strong knowledge of month-end close procedures and state tax filings. • Familiarity with Epicor software or similar accounting systems. • Expertise in auditing practices and financial compliance. • Understanding of S-corp accounting principles and structures. • Ability to manage and oversee budget processes effectively. • Experience with 401(k) audits and employee benefit plan compliance. • Excellent communication and organizational skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
