Description We are offering an opportunity for a Controller based in New York, New York. The role primarily involves managing a portfolio of Real Estate entities, both owner/manager. This position will require you to take full ownership over financial statement preparation, closings, 1099's, and year-end audit, along with managing a team both on-site and offsite. Responsibilities • Take charge of the financial management of a portfolio of Real Estate entities. • Manage a team, fostering efficient and effective communication both on-site and offsite. • Oversee the preparation of financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant regulations and standards. • Handle closings and 1099's diligently, ensuring all processes are completed in a timely manner. • Lead the year-end audit process, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders as necessary. • Utilize skills in Corporate Real Estate and Financial Statement Preparation to enhance overall financial management. • Oversee the financial health of the Real Estate entities, implementing strategies for financial growth and stability where necessary. • Ensure all financial operations align with company policies and legal regulations. • Collaborate with other departments to align financial management with business strategies. • Monitor financial performance, preparing reports and proposing improvements where necessary. Requirements • Candidate must possess a strong knowledge of Corporate Real Estate. • Proficiency in Financial Statement Preparation is required. • The applicant should have a strong understanding of accounting principles and financial regulations. • Experience in a similar role as a Controller would be advantageous. • Strong leadership abilities are necessary to manage and guide financial teams. • Excellent analytical and strategic planning skills are required. • The ability to communicate complex financial information in an understandable way is necessary. • Proficiency in financial software and databases is required. • The candidate should possess a bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field. An advanced degree or professional certification (e.g., CPA) is preferred. • Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions are necessary. • The candidate must have excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks. • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial management and reporting is required. • The ability to maintain confidentiality regarding the company's financial information is crucial.
