Description We are seeking a Controller for a Houston based client. This role is pivotal in our finance department and requires a candidate with a strong understanding of finance, accounting, budgeting, tax, banking, cash management, cost control principles, and GAAP. This position is an exciting opportunity for someone who is adept at building and leading an accounting function from the ground up and has a knack for analyzing financial data and preparing financial reports, statements, and projections. Key Responsibilities: • Lead and build an accounting function, including the recruitment, development, and retention of top industry talent. • Analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and projections. • Communicate effectively with senior level executives and external stakeholders about complex accounting/financial outcomes. • Solve problems effectively with a results-oriented focus. • Influence operational/policy changes cross-functionally throughout the organization. • Manage projects effectively and with strong attention to detail. • Thrive in a fast-paced high growth environment. Requirements • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is required • Prior experience in a Big 4 Accounting Firm is a must • Strong knowledge and understanding of US GAAP • Experience in conducting Annual External Audits is required • Proficient understanding of Accounting Principles is essential • Experience in policy implementation and enforcement in an accounting context • Proven track record in Software Implementations related to accounting systems • Must have excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills • High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation • Strong problem-solving and creative skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analyses • High level of proficiency in MS Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage well through ambiguity and complexity • Ability to execute and follow-through to completion and documentation.
