Description Robert Half Management Resources is recruiting a Controller to support our non-profit client on a 3+ month engagement in Los Angeles, CA. This role will report directly to the CFO and will play a critical role in overseeing the month-end close and supporting the audit. The right person for this role will have 2+ years of non-profit experience including leading audits and a proven controller with many years of working experience. Responsibilities: - Get up to speed on the books, COA, divisions, and the organizational structure - Help complete the year-end audit - work with auditors to answer all questions. - Run the month-end close (10 days) and oversee a team of two (Financial Analyst and Staff Accountant) - Review and post teams journal entries and ensure complete and accurate schedules, reconciliations, financial reporting - Prepare roll forwards, restricted net assets, depreciation tables, and any complex accounting entries Requirements - 10+ years of accounting experience and a proven controller with a strong understanding of GAAP - Min of 2 yrs. at non-profit - including two non-profit audits (school and religious experience plus, not required) - CPA or equivalent credentials - highly preferred - Must be adept at leading audits and working with external auditors - Experience with QuickBooks (plus, not required) - Proficient in Excel (Pivots, Large Data Sets, and Lookups, Reconciliations, Data Validation) - Attention to detail and highly organized - Must be located in California - Able to communicate at various levels within the organization and external auditors Robert Half is the world’s first and largest specialized talent solutions firm that connects highly qualified job seekers to opportunities at great companies.
