Coordinates, administers and controls financial operations in more than one small business units or in one complex site. This job is the first Director level. Provides direct and indirect supervision to subordinate managers and employees performing highly specialized roles in a major function or division/department within medium to large sites. This includes long-term planning, objective setting, policy formation, interpretation and management while providing latitude and discretion to subordinates. Accountable for projects or programs on a multi-national or global basis. Work requires investigating and resolving a wide variety of highly unusual conditions that carry long-term implications. Requires developing new strategies, policies, practices, methods, programs or techniques and utilizing them to analyze and interpret difficult problems or situations and/or establishing new strategic direction that is site or multi-site specific. Participates with other senior managers to establish strategic plans and objectives. Has overall responsibility for planning, budgeting, implementing and maintaining costs, methods and employees in a site and/pr business sector. Has overall responsibility for business process for the organization. Makes a final decision on administrative and operational matters in area of responsibility to ensure achievement of objectives. Sound decisions are essential for the overall success of functional, division, or company operations. Directs and controls the activities of a broad functional area through several department managers. Assigns objectives, reviews performance and approves employee compensation, coaches for improved performance. Regularly interacts with executives and/or major customers. Interactions normally involve controversial situations, customer negotiations, or influencing and persuading other senior level managers. May represent the organization in public speaking venues and/or community events.
Detailed DescriptionPerforms tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:
Manages financial and accounting personnel within the department. Staffs the department, assigns work, reviews performance and addresses performance issues. Provides leadership, coaching, and development. Promotes and maintains a productive work environment. Develops policies, procedures and business controls to provide work direction. Ensures coherence within the organization as far as compensation policies are concerned. Provides financial leadership by reviewing, analyzing and interpreting financial and budgetary information. Participates in management decision-making drawing on information, analysis and recommendations developed through the department. Provides analysis of investment decisions, product pricing, and profitability. Provides reporting and analysis of current financial position. Develops external business relationships by providing financial rate and cost structures. Develops financial models associated with business opportunities. Manages activities associated with the financial planning process. Coordinates and consolidates order forecasts, revenue forecasts, manufacturing and operations costs for multi-year timeframes. Implements and supports financial processes and system architecture throughout business units. Develops new procedures and implements new processes to continually improve service quality. Where the site/unit is also a specific legal entity, responsible for Statutory Reporting in line with local requirement. Knowledge/Skills/Competencies Expert knowledge of the marketplace conditions for finance Expert knowledge of Celestica’s finance organization including strategic policies and objectives. Excellent understanding of global business environment and Customers business, organization, products and processes. Ability to lead complex negotiations effectively. Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with a wide variety of internal and external customers. Ability to interface with many international sites to establish strong working relationships and cooperation. Ability to effectively lead, manage, train and motivate a diverse group of managers and employees. Physical Demands Duties of this position are performed in a normal office environment Duties may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data Repetitive manual movements are frequently required (e.g. data entry, using a computer mouse, using a calculator, etc) Overnight travel is required Typical Experience Eleven to fourteen years of applicable experience. Breadth of knowledge is an asset. Site experience is strongly recommended. Typical Education Bachelor's degree, or consideration of an equivalent combination of education and experience.
