The Opportunity

Boehringer Ingelheim is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Controller for our Animal Health (AH) Southern Africa (SA) region. As the Controller for the Animal Health, you will be part of the finance team based in Johannesburg, South Africa, reporting to the Head of F&A. Role & responsibilities

The successful candidate will provide effective and efficient support to the AH management in various areas including Planning, Reporting, Business Partnering, and Controlling.
 
Planning Cycle and Budget Process:
* Ensures proper communication of planning, deadlines, targets and other relevant data for the budget cycles to relevant stakeholders in AH SA.
* Coordinates system entry of relevant data,
* Provides financial impact and analysis of assumption set to business,
* Supports review meetings with AH SA management by generating relevant overviews, analysis and business support,
* Ensures timely submission of data in the appropriate systems.
* Aligns with Regional controlling on guidelines and timelines and prepares internal AH SA timelines accordingly.
 
Business Partnering:
* Implements, aligns and executes guidance from the regional controlling team on (Corporate) strategies and processes,
* Provides operational business support with pricing-, discount- and profitability analysis, recommendations for cost optimization and partnerships and other analysis,
* Collects, interprets and provides data for decision making process.
* Connects relevant functions in AH SA and on a regional level in order to optimize communication and efficiency of (financial) processes.
 
Monthly closing/supplementary reporting:
* Ensures processing of accurate and relevant accruals and provisions in financial ledgers,
* Coordinates data collection from relevant resources
* Prepares monthly, quarterly and annual reporting of financial results in accordance with corporate policies and guidelines in the relevant systems
* Perform month end routines, checks, reconciliations and analysis,
* Ensures the delivery of periodical financial information and comments for AH SA management
* Brand portfolio analysis and optimization
* Participating review meetings with OPU management by generating relevant overviews, analysis and business.
 
Projects and continuous improvement
* Work on continuous improvement topics to ensure compliance and adherence to relevant regulations in the financial processes of AH SA
* Support the Regional controlling team on an ad hoc basis.
 
Compliance Responsibility:
* Responsible for overseeing compliance and adherence to Corporate SOP’s, local regulations and best practices as applicable for SA countries.
 
Requirements

•    Bachelors in Business Administration / Accounting is must.
•    10 - 15 Years of Finance and Business Controlling experience, preferably in a multi-national Pharmaceutical organization
•    Experience using SAP and in project management is a must.
•    Knowledge of IFRS is a must.
•    Business fluent in English

•    Technical Proficiency in financial management systems and tools having the ability to use these tools to analyze and report on financial performance.
•    Strategic Thinking and Future Orientated: They should be able to understand the "big picture" of the business and think about the future direction of the business.
•    Effective Communication and Presentation Skills: Possess the ability to effectively communicate with business partners and explain complex financial topics in a way that is understandable to non-experts.
•    Regulatory Compliance Knowledge: They should be familiar with the financial regulations of the countries in which the organization operates.
•    Analytical Skills: They should have strong analytical skills to interpret financial data and make informed decisions.
•    Adaptability: They should be able to adapt to changes in the financial environment and make necessary adjustments to the financial strategy of the organization.
