Controller Location: Admin | 681 Center St. NE, Salem OR 97301 Job Status: Full-time, Monday – Friday Salary: $43.60, $54.50, $65.40 Hiring Bonus: $3,000 (Internal candidates that are currently employed here at NWHS are not eligible for a sign-on bonus.) Referral Bonus: $1,000 (Referral bonus’ expire at the close of this job posting.) We are seeking solution-focused accounting professional to join our finance department as a Controller. YOUR ROLE: In this position you will oversee the agency’s accounting & finance team to ensure compliance with policies and procedures, accounting standards, and grant requirements. This position is responsible for financial accounting reconciliation, financial reports, grant accounting, grant monitoring and invoicing, updating policies and procedures, preparing program budgets, and assisting with internal and external audits. This position is part of the Agency Management Team leading the operation of the Community Health Center. This is a supervisory role and is responsible for the hiring and coaching of employees. SPECIFIC DUTIES: + Works closely with the CFO to coordinate the finance department’s role in the annual financial audit, federal single audit, retirement plan audit, and all other external audits including site visits and grant reviews. + Maintains the grant accounting process from beginning to end, including budgeting, monitoring expenditures, analyzing revenue recognition, and preparing required financial reports and support. + Collaborates with CFO and Agency Program Directors to compile fiscal year operating and capital budgets. + Ensures the preparation, review, and timely submission of regulatory Agency financial reports including Indirect Cost Rate proposals, Medicare Cost Report, OSOW reporting, and the HRSA Section 330 grant reporting. + Analyzes and monitor account relationships to ensure accuracy of information among funds, identifies and researches errors and makes recommendations for corrections. Prepares and/or approves journal entry postings. QUALIFICATIONS: + Bachelor's Degree with substantial credits in accounting, finance and/or related field required. CPA Certification preferred. + 3-5 years in progressively responsible accounting/financial roles including significant experience in health center and grant accounting/procedures preferred. + Prior accounting department supervisory experience required, with the ability to apply strong leadership and management skills to provide quality reports. + Experience using a computerized accounting and payroll system and electronic spreadsheet and data applications, and developing, analyzing, preparing, and maintaining spreadsheets and financial reporting. Experience with Blackbaud Financial Edge preferred. + Experience in managing or working with Federal, State, and Private grants preferred. + Experience in designing, monitoring, and testing internal financial controls and associated policies and procedures.
