**Job Title:** Controller **Location:** Gardendale, AL - Hybrid **Position Summary** The Controller is responsible for overseeing the company's accounting operations to ensure accurate financial records, regulatory compliance, and reliable financial reporting. This role will also monitor and enhance internal controls while providing critical financial insights to support the company's strategic goals. **Key Responsibilities** + Collaborate with external auditors and provide necessary documentation for the annual audit. + Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government regulations. + Maintain cost pools and prepare Incurred Cost Submissions in compliance with DCAA guidelines. + Oversee the production of financial reports, ensuring adherence to GAAP or IFRS. + Manage, analyze, and maintain financial statements and budgets. + Update financial projections for executives and management. + Assess and improve current accounting operations, including internal control systems. + Support month-end and year-end close processes, including general ledger reconciliations, cost pool analyses, and journal entries (e.g., depreciation, EOM adjustments). + Lead the development of the annual budget, analyze fiscal inputs, and present recommendations to the CFO and board of directors. + Conduct quarterly budget reviews and recommend resource reallocations as needed. + Support the year-end financial audit process, including correspondence with external auditors. + Perform other duties as assigned by executive leadership. _Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions._ **Qualifications** + Bachelor's degree in Accounting (Required). + 5+ years of government accounting experience (Preferred). + Proficiency in Deltek Costpoint (Required). + Strong work ethic and self-starter mentality. + Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail. + Ability to follow standard filing and documentation procedures. + Strong problem-solving, research, and data analysis skills. + Comprehensive knowledge of financial chart of accounts and corporate procedures. + Effective verbal and written communication skills. + Professional demeanor with the ability to interact effectively with employees and vendors. + Proficiency in mathematical computations, including percentages and fractions. **Reasonable Accommodations:** Accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the role.
