Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Controller is responsible for the timely and accurate reporting of financial information through oversight of financial accounting processes and internal controls, including managing certain finance and accounting personnel tasked with completing daily, monthly and annual accounting and financial reporting duties. As an important component of management, the Controller must possess relationship management skills that enable a productive, cross functional decision making environment across all areas of the Company.
Typical pay for this position is $150,000-175,000/year. The final offer for this position will be based on the unique experience and qualifications of the candidate selected. This position may also be eligible for a bonus not included in the base pay range.
Roles & Responsibilities
Direct Reports: supervises the operations of the Accounting Department, which include accounts payable, accounts receivable, treasury, and credit. Financial Records: responsible for the proper maintenance of all necessary accounts to provide timely and accurate accounting of Horizon Hobby financial activities. Financial Reports: responsible for the timely and accurate completion of all monthly and yearly financial reports. Billing and Collections: supervises the activities of the accounts receivable department to ensure appropriate billing and collection practices. Payables: supervises the activities of the disbursement departments, ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payroll and accounts payable. Financial Software System: responsible for maintenance of the Financial software system to ensure accuracy and availability. Internal Controls: responsible for monitoring, measuring and necessary revision of Horizon Hobby's internal control processes related to financial reporting Compliance Programs: responsible for daily activities to comply with all corporate compliance and other regulatory requirements. Audit: responsible for all required information for completion of Horizon's external audits. Governmental Reports: responsible for completion of accurate, timely periodic reports required by governmental regulation. Budget and Strategic Plan: assist in the creation and maintenance of the annual budget and strategic plan. Completes statistical and financial reports as requested. Assists in providing education to staff regarding financial operations. Follows all regulations, agency health, safety guidelines, policies and work procedures Maintenance of all Horizon Hobby financial records to meet internal and external accounting standards. Measured by no required or recommended changes to statements from external audits. Performs other duties as assigned.Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's in accounting or Finance. Master's in Accounting preferred. Certified Public Accountant (CPA), licensed or inactive in good standing required Minimum 5 years of experience (preferably 10 years) of public or public company accounting experience required. Consumer products and global/international experience strongly preferred but not required. Detailed financial statement and accounting practice knowledge and experience Has experience in working with external auditors. Excellent management and supervisory skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Excellent organizational and time management skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.Physical Demands
