Job Title: Controller Department: FinanceReports to Positions:CEO/CFO/Director of AccountingLocation:DallasStatus:Full-Time Job Summary: The Controller for a private practice healthcare provider will oversee all financial and accounting operations for the organization. This role is critical for ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations, managing budgets, and overseeing day-to-day financial activities. The Controller will work closely with the CEO and leadership team to support the financial health and growth of the practice. Key Responsibilities: 1. Financial Reporting & Analysis + Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, cash flow). + Conduct variance analysis, identifying discrepancies between actual financial performance and budgeted projections. + Provide detailed financial insights to leadership, helping guide decision-making and strategic planning. + Monitor key financial metrics, including revenue, expenses, and profitability. + 2. Cash Flow Management + Ensure effective cash flow management, including monitoring accounts payable and receivable to optimize working capital. + Manage the practice’s cash position, ensuring sufficient liquidity to meet operational needs. + 3. Compliance & Regulatory Reporting + Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulatory requirements specific to healthcare providers. + Oversee preparation and submission of necessary tax filings (e.g., income taxes, payroll taxes). + Monitor changes in healthcare financial regulations and ensure the practice remains compliant with applicable rules (e.g., CMS, HIPAA, IRS). + 4. Financial Systems & Controls + Oversee the implementation and maintenance of financial systems and controls to safeguard the organization’s assets. + Develop and enforce internal controls to ensure financial data accuracy, integrity, and security. + Manage and improve accounting processes, ensuring timely and accurate data entry, reconciliation, and reporting. + 5. Team Management + Supervise and mentor accounting staff, including accounts payable/receivable clerks and other finance team members. + Promote professional development and training opportunities for the finance team to ensure efficiency and knowledge growth. + 6. Strategic Support + Partner with senior leadership to drive financial performance improvements, cost control, and revenue enhancement initiatives. + Provide actionable insights to management on financial performance and operational improvements. + Support strategic business decisions, including expansion, mergers, acquisitions, or partnerships. Qualifications Qualifications: + Education: + Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (required). + CPA, CMA, or MBA preferred. + Experience: + Minimum of 5 years of accounting or finance experience, with at least 2-3 years in a leadership or management role. + Experience in healthcare finance, preferably within a private practice or medical services environment. + Strong understanding of healthcare billing, coding, and reimbursement processes (insurance, Medicare, Medicaid, etc.). + Skills & Competencies: + Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks). + Solid knowledge of GAAP, tax laws, and healthcare financial regulations. + Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail. + Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders. + Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment. + Leadership capabilities to manage and mentor accounting staff effectively.
