Key responsibilities for this role include:
Administers general accounting, property accounting, forms control, payroll, and records retention programs.
Supervises staff responsible for financial transactions, analysis, and reporting.
Administers the preparation and maintenance of operating and capital asset budgets, checks appropriation requests against approved budgets for availability of funds prior to commitment; and exercises accounting control to ensure that budgeted expenditures do not exceed amounts authorized.
Prepares periodic forecasts of operating results.
Interprets and reports to management on operating results as they affect the financial aspects of the corporation and makes specific recommendations which will result in cost reduction and profit improvement.
Assumes responsibility for the correct and accurate accounting classifications of all expenditures and documents, including capital and other.
Acts as immediate contact with corporation’s independent auditors on accounting matters.
Directs the preparation of statistics for periodic and yearly financial statements, including the preparation of charts and graphs showing progress, conditions, and results.
Proposes policies for the establishment and maintenance of inventory levels for raw materials, supplies, material-in-progress, and finished goods.
Liaison with company’s information technology group on the company’s data processing operations as they impact management accounting.
Mentor and provide feedback to supervised staff regarding professional and personal development.
Directs and analyzes studies of generic economic, business, and financial conditions.
Within area of responsibility, understand and comply with all safety, environmental, and quality practices and procedures as outlined in organizational/departmental guidelines and SOPs as well as applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
Perform other duties as assigned.
The minimum qualifications for this role are:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration or finance required. Master’s degree preferred.
Minimum of 10 years relevant experience in accounting and/or finance.
Minimum 8-10 years supervisory/analytical, ERP and Microsoft Excel/Access experience.
Financial reporting, knowledge of GAAP required.
