Description Tyler Houk (Practice Director) with Robert Half is offering an exciting opportunity for a Controller in the non-profit sector based in Fresno, California. This role involves managing the daily functions of the Business Office, ensuring compliance with regulations, maintaining internal controls, and supervising the audit process. The Controller will also be in charge of the budgeting process and regular financial reporting. Responsibilities: • Oversee daily operations of the Business Office and all accounting functions • Ensure compliance with university, state, federal, and other applicable policies and procedures • Control the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for accurate accounting of business activities • Ensure timely, complete, and accurate month-end close in accordance with U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles • Manage cash flow and make recommendations for long-term cash management • Lead the annual audit process, working with internal and external constituents • Oversee the development of the annual operating and capital budgets • Collaborate with other departments across campus for efficient operations • Supervise the production and distribution of accurate monthly and yearly financial reports • Ensure proper financial management of the institution’s grants, including applications and reconciliations • Participate in training to stay updated with current issues facing higher education organizations • Handle the financial statement preparation and general ledger duties • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable functions • Work with the advancement office to ensure proper accounting treatment of donors' gifts and grants. Requirements • Minimum of 7 years' experience in a financial management role, preferably within the non-profit sector • Strong proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) management • Demonstrated experience in Grant Accounting • Extensive knowledge and practice in Non-profit Accounting • Proven ability to manage Month End Close procedures • In-depth understanding of General Ledger maintenance • Expertise in Financial Statement Preparation is essential • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or CMA certification is a plus) • Excellent leadership, communication, and decision-making skills • Ability to work independently and as part of a team • High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation • Proficiency in accounting software and Office Suite, particularly Excel • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail • Ability to multitask and meet tight deadlines • Knowledge of non-profit law and governance is a plus For confidential consideration apply directly or reach out to Tyler Houk on LinkedIn!
