Controller
Description Our client, a growing distribution company, is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Controller to manage and oversee all financial, accounting, and reporting activities. The Controller will play a key role in the company’s continued growth by ensuring financial integrity, optimizing processes, and providing strategic guidance to leadership. Working closely with operational teams, the Controller will provide insights that drive sound financial decisions to support the organization’s overall success. This is a long term contract opportunity Key Responsibilities: + Oversee and manage the financial operations of the company, including accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management + Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with all applicable financial regulations and reporting standards + Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, including Profit and Loss (P& L), Balance Sheet, and Statement of Cash Flows, while ensuring adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). + Collaborate with senior leadership to evaluate financial performance and support strategic and operational decision-making. + Lead the annual budgeting process, working closely with key stakeholders to establish realistic financial goals that align with the company’s growth trajectory. + Manage and oversee month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities, ensuring accuracy and timely completion. + Implement and optimize accounting and financial software systems to drive efficiency and maintain up-to-date records and reports + Serve as a key liaison for external audits, tax preparation, and other financial reviews. + Monitor and manage the organization’s cash flow position, identifying opportunities to optimize working capital. + Assess financial risks and opportunities, providing proactive recommendations to leadership regarding cost control, expense reduction, and revenue growth strategies. + Supervise and mentor the accounting/finance team, promoting a collaborative and productive work environment. Requirements Qualifications: + Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA certification preferred. + 7+ years of progressive financial and accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role. + Previous experience in the distribution, logistics, or manufacturing industry strongly desired. + Proficiency in financial systems and tools; advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel is required + Strong knowledge of GAAP and other relevant regulatory frameworks. + Experience with process improvement and operational efficiency initiatives. + Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a strong attention to detail. + Effective communication and leadership skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments and mentor team members. Preferred Skills: + Experience with ERP or other financial systems implementation and optimization (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, or Workday). + Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities. + Familiarity with tax regulations and compliance at both state and federal levels.
