Job Description:

We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Controller with experience in the asphalt services or construction industry. The Controller will be instrumental in driving financial efficiencies, process improvement, and excellence across the finance and accounting department which will lead to organization change. This senior level leader will lead ASI’s day-to-day accounting and finance department, ensuring financial accuracy and streamlined processes, cost-effective resource allocation, and the highest standards of internal controls. The ideal candidate is a strategic leader who excels at optimizing performance, fostering a culture of accountability, and positioning ASI for long-term success.
Experience and Skills:
Key Responsibilities:
+ Financial Leadership: Lead the financial operations including accounting, financial reporting, cash flow management, and financial execution of special projects
+ Strategic Process Optimization: Identify, develop, and implement best-in-class financial processes that drive efficiency, productivity, and cost-effectiveness
+ Financial Oversight: Manage budgets, control costs, and improve financial performance through effective forecasting, job costing, and resource allocation
+ Project Management Excellence: Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget while upholding ASI’s reputation for quality and excellence
+ Team Development & Leadership: Cultivate a high-performing team by focusing on talent acquisition, coaching, and professional development
+ Technology & Innovation: Drive adoption of modern technology, equipment, and digital tools to enhance efficiency and real-time decision-making
+ Client & Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with internal departments, vendors, customers, and key stakeholders to support business growth and service excellence
+ Data-Driven Decision Making: Establish and evaluate key performance indicators (KPIs) and leverage analytics to continuously improve financial and organizational performance
Qualifications & Requirements:
+ Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance and/or business administration. CPA or CMA preferred
+ Experience and strong knowledge of accounting, US GAAP, and Work-in-Process or Percentage of Completion Job Costing
+ Experience and understanding of internal controls and processes
+ 10+ years of leadership experience in public accounting or in the asphalt paving, infrastructure services, or a related construction sector
+ Proven track record of driving financial and process efficiencies, cost reductions, and internal financial improvements in a high-volume asphalt service, infrastructure, or construction environment
+ Demonstrated ability to lead small and large-scale projects, oversee multiple tasks, special projects, and team members
+ Exceptional financial and business acumen with experience and/or knowledge in budgeting, forecasting, financial statements and financial management
+ Proficient or experience in financial accounting software (e.g., Great Plains, Net Suite or similar) is preferred or had clients that utilized construction software. Strong Microsoft Office, particularly Excel skills are critical
+ Strong leadership, communication, and management skills, with the ability to align teams toward a shared vision
+ Superior positive and proactive attitude that is focused on serving other departments within ASI
