THE ROLE

As Venue Controller your key responsibility will be the overall administration and leadership of Central Park Boathouse and Lobel’s at Rockefeller Center.  This role will evaluate, select, and manage the delivery and effectiveness of all financial transactions while providing management and leadership for financial reporting, systems, regulatory compliance, and business process decisions. This position will have a key role in the smooth running of all financial transactions and stakeholder experiences.  This position is committed to playing a pivotal role in building a successful future for our business. Working with all internal departments and stakeholders to ensure all the financial transactions including management of Month End Close process including issuing monthly financial statements in accordance with GAAP, assist with the budget process, administer the A/R & A/P cycles, royalty calculations and reporting, management of fixed assets, sales tax and business license compliance, risk management, and audit management come together to deliver highly accurate financial information designed to maximize the profit and successful outcomes for Legends Hospitality.

The ability to deliver professional and collaborative financial information and attain high levels of accurate detail is essential for success in this role. The critical mindset is to go above and beyond stakeholder expectations and consistently lead by example with innovative thinking as well as the protection and championing asset protection and maximizing return of investments. They will be expected to own and drive internal and external stakeholders in the delivery of all Legends Hospitality financial transactions.

ESSENTIAL DUTES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Direct all aspects of accounting operations, overseeing all transactions related to general ledger, receivables, payables, and payroll (in conjunction with shared services where appropriate). Develop and maintain all necessary accounting policies and systems, including general ledger and financial reporting. Ensure that records are maintained in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles. Manage cash reconciliations, physical inventory counts and the safeguarding of assets. Manage monthly accounting operations for financial oversight and budgetary approval of specific transactions. Report client commissions timely and review for accuracy. Prepare percent rent reports and submit to landlord timely. Reconcile rent statements and communicate any discrepancies to the landlord. Ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulatory authority. Assist the VP of Finance in financial planning, modeling, and projections. Partner with shared services to manage key vendor financial relationships including A/P payments, statement reconciliations, chargebacks, short pay, and problem resolution. Manage the accounting team member’s, which includes the development, hiring, performance evaluation, training, work allocation, prioritization, assignment of tasks and problem. Interact regularly with executive team and individual department heads to ensure that company’s financial goals and priorities are aligned and achieved with the established total company direction. Continually investigate and introduce process improvement measures and presents suggestions to the Executive team for consideration. Assist with the preparation of budget, cost analysis and forecast all LGM division capital expenditures. Report client commissions timely and review for accuracy. Reconcile rent statements and communicate any discrepancies to the landlord.  Other duties and projects assigned and directed.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with all Legends & ASM policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE     

5-10 years’ experience, ideally within sports retail industry and/or inventory accounting experience A minimum of 5+ years of management of finance or accounting team of 5 or more employees Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent combination of education and related experience.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Excellent influencing skills to support the needs of the internal and external stakeholder teams. Excellent written and oral communication skills Detail-oriented and extremely organized with the ability to multi-task. Excellent Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint core skills Must be available to work extended hours such as nights, weekends, and holidays as business needs require. Must be able to work in a team environment with internal and external stakeholders across many domestic and international countries.

COMPENSATION

Competitive salary range of $100,000 - $125,000, commensurate with experience, and a generous benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, paid vacation, and 401k plan.
