About Lihir

 

Our Lihir Operation, located on the beautiful island of Niolam, approximately 800km north of Papua New Guinea's capital, Port Moresby, is one of the world’s largest gold mines. Set within a geothermically active, extinct volcanic crater, Lihir operates an open-pit mine producing refractory ore, which undergoes pressure oxidation and conventional leaching to recover gold. Our workforce includes both residential and commute rosters, creating a diverse and dynamic team. Lihir offers a range of recreational facilities, including a gym, sports club, restaurant, bar, swimming pool, tennis and squash courts, and a 9-hole golf course. For those who enjoy the outdoors, the Lihir fishing and boating clubs provide access to pristine waters and beaches, while our onsite deli and café serve fresh local and imported produce, barista-made coffee, and freshly baked goods.

Purpose

 

By ensuring all necessary parts and materials are available before starting a job, it minimizes delays caused by searching for parts.Technicians can focus on their tasks without wasting time gathering parts, as everything they need is pre-assembled and staged. Proper kitting and staging ensure that maintenance work is executed efficiently and in alignment with the maintenance strategy.Essential Duties

 

Ensures personal and team compliance with all company HSE requirements & policies including Fitness for Work.Complete any HSE tasks only if the hazards and any potential consequences are understood and any corrections are firstly agreed by the relevant Supervisor.Display behaviour consistent with Newmont Values.Ensure parts are stored and handled HSE standards and procedures.Maintain accurate records of inventory within SAPValidate material availability for maintenance tasksReceive, inspect, kit, and stage parts ensuring maintenance execution readiness Support the return, storage and tracking of unutilized parts for work order requiring rescheduled work ordersTrack and record the movement of parts, ensuring accountability and proper documentation.      Liaise with Newmont Supply Chain and Warehouse team to track orders, credit back parts, resolve discrepancies, and ensure timely delivery.Ensure rotable & repairable materials are managed in accordance with site and global Newmont business requirementsRotable Returns Documents and MEMR are processed within 7 days.Identify inefficiencies in parts management processes and recommend improvements.Follow best practices to streamline parts handling and reduce kitting and staging durations.Training & Experience

 

More the 3 years’ experience in inventory management.High school Certificate or equivalent Experience in mining maintenance environment.Proficient in English with excellent verbal and written communication skills.Computer proficiency in MS Office suite and SAP.Excellent attention to detail and time management skills to meet deadlines.Proficient in the use of Inventory Management (SAP software) for materials tracking and demand requirementsRecognizes problems and proactively works towards resolution under the guidance of immediate SupervisorWorks well with others, listens actively, seeks inputs and asks clarification questions to check understanding staying focused and composed in a variety of work situations.Strong communication and interpersonal skill.Excellent attention to detail and time management skills to meet deadlines.Working Conditions

 

Positions is based onsite at Lihir Island Standing for extended periods, lifting items, and working in warehouse or industrial environments22/20 RosterCamp and food providedFly in/out roster experience preferred
