Controls Analyst

Role Purpose

Reporting to the Underwriting Operations Manager based in Madrid, you are responsible for supporting the Operations Controls team in all and aspects of SOX Operational Risk within our Finance Operations area. You are responsible for assisting/ensuring that adequate controls are embedded in our processes in the Operations unit. We ask that these are continually reviewed and kept current.

Support on operational improvements and change management within a strict control environment is a key aspect of the role and you will be involved in working on Process Standardization initiatives as well as analysing productivity and performance across Operations.

You should also be customer focused, and include clients’ perspective when checking for potential risks, generating controls and making recommendations for improvements, assisting the Operations team in providing a positive experience to customers.

Key Responsibilities

Running the Quality Assurance Process for the Region and driving improved performance both internally and with external outsourced partners:  Supervise that all the post sales activities under Operation’s tasks are delivered with expected quality of service to the customers. Conduct regular audits and reviews to ensure compliance with established standards, regulations, and company guidelines. Analyse data and key performance indicators to identify bottlenecks, trends, and areas for process enhancement. Utilize quality tools and methodologies to identify, assess, and resolve root causes of quality issues. Ensure Quality assurance is performed on time and adhering to frameworks laid out. Effectively communicate quality-related issues, findings, and recommendations to senior management and key stakeholders.

2. Design, implement and embed best practice to achieve high quality service provision for internal teams and external outsourced partners:

Develop and implement quality assurance procedures and policies tailored specifically for commercial lines of business. Create and maintain comprehensive quality assurance documentation, including standard operating procedures, checklists, and templates. Collaborate with other teams to develop training programs and workshops to improve quality awareness and adherence. Provide hands-on assistance and guidance to the Commercial Lines team, educating them on quality standards, best practices, and remedial measures. Stay updated on industry trends, emerging regulations, and best practices in commercial insurance to implement changes proactively.

3. Voice of customer and linking teams together 

Establish contact with brokers to enhance their perception of Chubb by liaising with them Collaborate with underwriters, intermediaries, and other key stakeholders to identify areas where quality improvement is required – and design and implement effective solutions

4. Work with BI team to prioritize and support changes to enhance quality on Operations and Underwriting.

5. Work within the framework of Chubb ethical and general guidelines

6. Maintaining continuous education opportunities to improve own technical skills and maintain professional credentials.

Fluent English - A foreign language would be an advantage.  Proven experience (minimum of 2 years) in quality assurance in the commercial insurance industry. Strong understanding of commercial lines of business, product development, underwriting, claims management, and related processes. Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Insurance, Risk Management, or a related field. A relevant professional certification (e.g., Six Sigma, Quality Management) will be advantageous. In-depth knowledge of quality management principles, quality assurance practices, and industry regulations. Proficient in using quality tools and software for data analysis and reporting purposes (master usage of excel macros and SQL for data management) Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective measures. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams. Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing requirements in a fast-paced environment. Commitment to maintaining high ethical standards and a customer-centric approach.
