Job Title: Controls Applications EngineerJob Description We are seeking a dedicated Controls Applications Engineer for a 9-month contract-to-hire position with a material handling company. This role will act as the right hand to the Controls Department Manager, playing a pivotal role in project meetings, scope development, and serving as the communication bridge between the engineering team and customers. Responsibilities + Write and program machines from the ground up using Allen Bradley PLCs. + Design schematics using AutoCAD Electrical. + Program HMIs. + Participate in project meetings with customers and support scope development. + Consult effectively with customers and assist both design and software teams as needed. + Travel up to 25% within the United States with a team of engineers. + Work both independently and collaboratively within a team. Essential Skills + Proficiency in PLC programming from scratch in Allen Bradley. + Experience in controls hardware design using AutoCAD Electrical. + HMI programming skills. + Strong knowledge of control theory, instrumentation, and process control. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Experience with Siemens and Schneider Electric PLCs. + Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) preferred. + Experience in packaging automation is highly preferred. + Robotic programming experience with ABB, Fanuc, Siemens, and Schneider Electric is a plus. + Lead or management experience. Work Environment The work environment varies between the office, shop floor, and travel locations. The headquarters facility is modern and up-to-date with large windows, collaboration stations, and a clean, temperature-controlled shop floor. The role involves equal parts of time spent on the shop floor and behind a desk, with occasional work-from-home opportunities after the initial few months. Travel is conducted in groups with compensation for travel days and double time for holidays if worked by choice. Direct deposit for travel pay and company cards for expenses are provided.
