Controls Automation Technician

 

Do you have Controls and Automations Technician experience?  CURRIES, North Iowa’s largest manufacturer, is adding a Controls Automation Technician to the team for our 2nd Shift - Hours are from 2 pm to 11 pm. . 

 

CURRIES is a leading manufacturer of essential steel door and frame openings for healthcare, institutional, commercial and industrial construction. We produce strong and secure steel doors and frames to meet the full range of safety, security, and aesthetic requirements for any project. We supply a full line of quality custom and standard hollow metal doors and frames for new and retrofit construction projects for critical infrastructure, healthcare, commercial and educational markets. This role will be based out of our manufacturing facility located in Mason City, IA.   

 

 

What would you do as our Controls Automation Technician?

 

You will monitor, maintain, repair and upgrade plant Automation/Electrical equipment and networks within the boundaries of budget to ensure process control and continuity (including PLC's, HMI's, servers, switches/hubs, PC's).

 

You would also:

Execute instrumentation solutions used for controlling plant process. Involve technical support, design and configuration of instrumentation, oversight of electrical and instrumentation functions related to projects. Provide troubleshooting expertise in the areas of A&C in support of the plant, as well as management of troubleshooting tools and documentation. Design and Implement control strategies based on current best practice standards and approved components. Investigate, design, write and complete projects that will improve productivity or process reliability. Work with fix/support teams to identify areas in need of improvement and reliability. Provide and participate in training and A&C support and expertise to site projects Champion, support and role in manufacture and operations safety programs/practices in partnership with EH&S and operations management. Assist and support in Root Cause Analysis efforts and solutions. Maintain required certifications and complete ongoing training, including skills training, safety training and procedural training to ensure regulatory compliance and proficiency

 

 

The Skills and Experience you need:

Associate’s Technical degree in A&C, or similar technical discipline plus 2 years (or more) of A&C work experience OR 5 years (or more) of work experience in an A&C role in lieu of degree. High school diploma or equivalent. Experience and ability to work independently and as part of a team to accomplish goals. Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple priorities simultaneously; attention to detail; strong organization skills. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Demonstrated ability to identify and implement detailed solutions to complex technical problems. Demonstrated ability to manage projects with minimum supervision and meet deliverables. Ability to develop/design/update, read and interpret drawings, and equipment specifications, including electrical schematics, loop diagrams and process control narratives Experience with Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Programmable Logic Controller (PLC). Proficient in software application design, implementation and troubleshooting, Programmable Logic Controllers and HMI's. Proficient troubleshooting skills for computer networks, automation, controls, programming, process systems, PLC's, HMI's, AC variable frequency drives, AC motors, Servo motors, relay controls, power distribution systems (480VAC and below), and 24VDC controls.
