Renewal by Andersen is seeking a Computer Engineer at our Cottage Grove, MN location.

This position is responsible for providing Computer Engineering expertise within the Renewal by Andersen (RbA) team supporting business growth projects.  The ideal candidate for this position is an innovative thinker and has a passion for operational excellence.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide and/or coordinate detailed quotes/estimates for server and support hardware, Windows OS, VM’s, applications, and systems integrations work Write equipment, server/PC, communication, and network functional specifications Work with vendors to assure specifications and code requirements are followed Design/build server/network systems to meet applications needs Maintain server/network hardware, applications, and perform patches/upgrades/systems expansions as needed Documentation of design changes Conduct equipment operational testing during Factory Acceptance Testing and Site Acceptance Testing Project management skills; deliver safe, effective, sustainable, and reliable solutions (Project planning, approval process, equipment specification, budget, preventative maintenance, acceptance plans, design review, safety assessments, capital request) Own PLC programming, HMI/operator screen, SPC, and QMS systems integration standard and development Participative team approach to problem solving and root cause analysis with associates, supervisors, maintenance, operations, Value Stream Managers, and peers Support the engineering, maintenance, and operations teams with advanced troubleshooting Assess current vs future state server, PC, OS, network, and data-license server technology capabilities Must be able to read and interpret electrical and network drawings for equipment Coach, mentor, and train less experienced staff on technical topics Position may require participation on an on-call systems support Travel requirements: Less than 10% for training, corporate visits, and vendor visits        

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering or similar field 2+ years of engineering experience preferred with data server-network/PLC integration/quality data systems background Expertise with Ethernet/Ethernet IP enterprise and machine-level networking Proficient with firewalls, VLAN’s, and managed switch configurations Advanced knowledge of data servers, server architecture, virtual machines (VM’s), and general Windows OS support and patching Expertise with quality measurement systems and PLC integration/tag requirements Understanding of visualization/operator interfaces (FactoryTalk View SE) and Thin Client/Thin Manager Experience with Rockwell communications software (FTLinx) and Studio5000 programming software Knowledge of SPC software and quality control (QC) integration Experience with networked camera integration with controls systems/data servers Proficiency reading and creating electrical and network schematics Knowledge or experience with AutoCAD Proficient with the use of common electrical and network testing tools Proficient in safe work methods (lock out tag out, arc flash) Communicate effectively through written, verbal, listening, and presentation skills Strong aptitude in problem solving, collecting data, performing statistical analyses, and making process improvements through sound, data-driven decisions Comfortable with hands-on work Interest in working in a manufacturing setting Self-motivated and able to learn quickly; being able to work independently and on a team depending on the situation Experience with change management strategies

MUST HAVE QUALIFICATIONS   

Experience with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) Equipment design experience with UL508A and NFPA79

In 2024, Andersen has set a profit-sharing target of $4,000 per eligible employee, prorated as appropriate. Profit sharing will be paid out in quarterly installments to provide eligible employees with payments throughout the year, with payment amounts tied to quarterly operating profit performance.
