Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
**Position Purpose:**
As a member of a global drafting department – you will manage the creation, revision, and storage of electronic drawing files (AutoCAD Electrical) for custom designed process equipment located in numerous worldwide Corning manufacturing locations. Primary responsibilities include taking ownership of a preliminary controls drawing package from engineering/development and completing all work to the drawing set prior to release into the system (Autodesk Vault). This includes ensuring that all components are captured in the schematics and called out on panel layouts, drawings show technically accurate/complete circuits, follow relevant industry and safety standards, and follow all Corning specific drafting standards. Secondary responsibilities include supporting or leading controls design efforts for new auxiliary process equipment, the integration of new capabilities onto existing process equipment, or the creation of new process equipment platforms. Design efforts may include power distribution layouts, I/O and safety circuit layouts, and entire process equipment platform layout. Supervision of 1-2 contract drafting resources may be necessary to help complete tasks.
**Requirements:**
+ A.A.S. Electrical Engineering Technology degree or equivalent; experience in the electrical/controls field will be considered in luie of a degree
+ Prior work within the controls drafting field
+ Working knowledge of electrical code requirements such as National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), and Joint Industry Council (JIC) standards
+ General Windows-based computer skills
**Desired:**
+ Proficient in the use of AutoCAD Electrical and Autodesk Vault software
**Responsibilities:**
+ Complete all controls drawing packages (schematics, process and instrumentation diagram (P&IDs), cable layouts, panel layouts) turned over from engineering/development
+ Perform technical review on all schematics for open/incomplete circuits
+ Review drawing packages for industry and safety standards compliance
+ Manage drawing package release and revision via Engineering Change Request process
+ Assist resolving drawing issues during equipment fabrication, assembly, and installation
+ Assist engineers, technicians, and maintenance personnel in locating relevant process equipment drawings within the drawing database

The range for this position is $55,162.00 - $75,848.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
