Summary:
The Controls Engineer 3 directly contributes and oversees control system configuration and design to enable integrated, high-volume sorting, feeding, conveying, and distribution customer solutions. 


Essential Responsibilities:

Selects, qualifies, uses and oversees industrial electrical control automation and integration tools and support services for schematic generation, control panel layout and embedded control device programming.  Oversees tools and methods to allow control panel configuration, manufacturing, installation and wiring for flexible manufacturing with minimal recurring, per-sale engineering support.  Includes schematic generation with wiring and interconnect documentation per system. Supports embedded control device programming tools and methods including PLC’s, VFD’s, HMI’s, sensors, actuators and other devices.  Works with OEM technical support, in-house engineers and IT to maintain, update, troubleshoot and provide training for industrial control programming tools. Supports Service with installation and startup of industrial control systems, both remote and on-site at customer locations.  Works with control and automation tool vendors and Purchasing group to help manage features, versions, licenses and upgrades.  Works with suppliers and OEM’s to understand capability and function of components subsystems.  Maintain current knowledge of control technology to optimize automation, integration, reliability, scalability and overall cost.  Uses and support collaborative, multi-developer design and programming tools including document / code repositories and version control systems.  Supports regulatory and standards compliance testing and validation internally, externally and with other parties.  Has working knowledge of NEC / NFPA, UL, CE, NEMA, ANSI and IEC electrical standards and components.  Supports supply chain management to identify alternative, replacement and equivalent components due to obsolescence, parts shortages, updates or other changes.   Complies and is familiar with industrial environment safety practices, protocols and training requirements, both in-house and at customer or third-party facilities.  Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE 

Bachelor's degree (B A / B S.) in Engineering with the following experience guidelines. and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Seven (7) years of related experience preferred. Experience with regulatory compliant industrial control systems, control panel design, and PLC control automation. Knowledge of electrical compliance agency requirement

TECHNICAL SKILLS (at least 3-5 years of combined experience in each of the following areas)

Deep understanding of AutoCAD Electrical, Familiar with EPLAN P8 Fluent with single line diagrams, and P&ID controls drawing formats Detailed knowledge of NFPA 70, NFPA 79 and UL508A Experienced with a wide variety of programmable controllers – for example Allen-Bradley / Rockwell, Siemens, Schneider / Modicon, Wago, Weidmueller,and Lenze  PLC Programming experience

•    RSLogix 500 for SLC 5/03, 5/04, and 5/05 
•    Networking RSNetWorx for DeviceNet, ControlNet and EtherNet IP HMI and SCADA Programming

•    Mechanical Design Software familiarity preferred – AutoCAD, Solidworks, Creo
 

TRAVEL

This position requires up to 40% travel, dependent on the projects.
