Controls Engineer

The Controls Engineer will be responsible for the integration of die cast equipment with all the peripheral equipment, including x-ray and vision system integration.

The Controls Engineer will also support maintenance of existing Allen-Bradley PL5 and Control Logix control equipment to ensure achievement of production targets.

This position will be within the Salary Bargaining Unit in the Etobicoke Casting Plant.

Basic Qualifications:

Completed University level Engineering degree – preference will be given to Electrical Engineering Degree Programming of PLC’s, HMI’s, robots and integrating third-party equipment into electrical design package (examples include Ethernet based communications, hardware handshaking, conveyor systems, robotics, motion control products and test equipment) Proficiently writing specifications, request for quotes, scope of works, requisitions, management of contractor(s) and/or project team(s), preparing close out documentation Trouble shooting and investigating problems and defect analysis; evaluating and providing engineered solutions for new and/or existing systems; investigating the effectiveness of changes in procedures, designs or materials Excellent communication and presentation skills are required Understanding of Federal, Provincial and Local codes (such as ESA, CEC, CSA, NFPA and other applicable codes) Ability to work within cross-functional teams, all levels of management and provide guidance Strong communication skills (both written and verbal) Capable of working any shift in a 3-shift operation Minimum THREE (3) 5 years’ experience in controls logic Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
