We are currently seeking a Controls Engineer to become part of our team. This role is critical to ensuring that automation and data collection processes, that utilise Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC’s) and Supervisory Control & Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems, are designed, installed, commissioned and maintained to meet the existing and future needs of the business. The role operates on a day shift.


Your main responsibilities will include;

Creating Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) code to control industrial machinery.Establishing and maintaining Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems.Improving machine PLC controls and processes to increase equipment effectiveness.Working on equipment PLC data networks and improve process data capture.Implementing control system upgrade projects and improve control panel design.Creating project plans to support machine control refurbishment, equipment installation, improvement, and cost reduction projects.Identifying, specifying, sourcing, and purchasing machines and equipment.Supervising sub-contractors, ensuring project implementation to time and cost whilst complying with all Company and H&S requirements.Identifying and implementing cost reduction and method improvement opportunities.Purchasing parts and equipment for improvement works, collating receipts and raising purchase requisitions.Providing technical expertise, including data analysis, planning and execution to improve equipment availability and asset utilisation for the site.Identifying and implementing improvements to improve the reliability of equipment, reducing reoccurring faults,  downtime and scrap.Assisting maintenance in undertaking technical fault finding on equipment.Creating and maintaining technical files for new and existing equipment.

This role will be based at Exeter full time, reporting to the Plant Engineering Manager
