Controls Engineer

Location: Cape Canaveral, FL

Position Overview: This role is focused on designing and maintaining electrical systems that support the launch of spacecraft.

Key responsibilities:

Design and Maintenance: Create electrical schematics, build junction boxes, and maintain systems to ensure everything works smoothly.Ground Support: Handle control systems that fuel and operate the spacecraft on launch day.Data Systems: Operate and upgrade data acquisition systems and maintain network interfaces.Field Work: Use electrical equipment to verify instruments and address any physical issues like wear and tear.Problem Solving: Write procedures for routine tasks and troubleshooting, and come up with innovative solutions for unique challenges.

Job Duties:

Designing, operating, installing, and testing low-power electrical systems.Managing ground support control and instrumentation systems for fueling and operating launch vehicles or spacecraft, especially on launch day.Being directly involved with all cape ground support equipment (GSE) builds, checkouts, and troubleshooting.Operating, upgrading, and maintaining data acquisition system hardware at launch and support sites.Controlling and maintaining network infrastructure interfaces to data acquisition systems.Building and designing junction boxes and conveyances for end instruments.Creating electrical schematics for new instrumentation.Using electrical equipment in the field to verify the functionality of end instruments.Maintaining systems through a preventative maintenance program.Addressing physical installation issues and wear/tear/corrosion of electrical components.Writing procedures for routine tasks and off-nominal troubleshooting steps.Providing innovative solutions to special requirements and challenges faced by the team, including specialized equipment and challenging installation locations.Performing basic electrical installation tasks such as working with valves, limit switches, potentiometers, and designing, building, and operating servo motor controls.

Key Qualifications:

Experience with electrical systems, data acquisition, and programming languages like Python and SQL.Comfortable working in high-pressure environments.Enjoy hands-on field work.Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline5+ years of professional experience with instrumentation power systems design and/or data acquisition systems5+ years of professional experience with low-power systems and/or DC circuits or filtersStrong PLC programming Experience with Autocad design EPLAN experience

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $52.00 - $72.00
