Job Title: Controls Engineer
Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Building Automation Controls Engineer for a 12-month contract-to-hire position. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, documentation, programming, testing, and implementation of commercial building automation system projects. These projects include creating room comfort through controlling fans, heat, and cooling, as well as maintaining heat and humidity for a battery manufacturing plant. The Controls Engineer will write and design the coding and test the program on-site.

ResponsibilitiesWork with customers to review project specifications, drawings, and project-specific documents to establish project intent.Develop a Building Automation System to meet the requirements, including coordinated drawings and product selection.Procure all the parts needed for the project to ensure technicians and electricians can install and start up the project.Design, startup, and commission supervisory-level system controllers (FX-90’s Niagara).Set up all alarming, including remote notification alarms and trending.Perform weekly site visits and update the Project Manager.Perform all warranty work after project turnover to the customer.Perform and document system commissioning and sequential testing.Provide system operation training to owners, including documentation and written operating instructions.Support control technicians, service techs, and customers with remote support and control service calls via VPN, workbench, and CCT.Assist with on-site calls as needed.Essential SkillsExperience with Tridium/Niagara or Metasys.Proficiency in BAS engineering software packages, specifically Johnson Controls Facility.Ability to work with 3-phase, 460-volt electrical panels, 120 Vac Circuits, and 24-volt circuits.Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.Comfortable driving to customer sites.Comfortable working on ladder lifts.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience with other PLCs such as Allen Bradley, Siemens, and Honeywell.Bachelor's degree in an Engineering field.Work Environment

The Controls Engineer will primarily work out of the Grand Rapids office, supporting projects in various locations, including Kalamazoo and Benton Harbor. The role involves a mix of working at company facilities (60%) and on-site (40%). The work week can range from 50-55 hours, depending on project demands. You will receive a company vehicle, gas card, cell phone, iPad, laptop, and benefits including 401K, health benefits, and PTO. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $43.00 - $57.00/hr.
