Job Function:
The Paper Machine Controls Engineer works with Maintenance Controls Team to troubleshooting, evaluate and improve the Paper Machine Controls System. Works closely with Project Managers on Paper Machine Controls Systems associated with projects. Partners with the Training team to develop the training system for Paper Machine controls team members are trained to their full potential, following the Paper Machine controls skills matrix. The engineer will be, fully capable of performing all Paper Machine Controls functions. The engineer will be a leader in the papermaking maintenance department, with a demonstrated passion for training and developing team members. Leads and manages Maintenance projects, MOC’s and RCA’s to completion.
Job Responsibilities:
Owns personal safety and ensures that safety is an integral part of the Maintenance Controls Team.Has a demonstrated commitment to quality work.Shares electrical/controls knowledge and techniques; coordinates and leads training for controls team on all controls/electrical functions of the paper machines.Works with the Paper Machine Controls and Engineering teams to develop the controls training system and ensure that team and individual training plans are developed and maintained to fully support business goals.Willingness and ability to travel to other FQ sites to provide technical/leadership support when needed.Partners with the Training team to develop and audit the training system to ensure consistency in training between paper machines controls engineering teams and sites.Ensures that best practices are incorporated into the Maintenance Controls Systems.Qualifies or assists in coordination of qualification for team members in qualifications across all areas of machine controls.Partners with the Training team to ensure LMS modules, work instructions and all other training materials are kept current.Works flexible hours as demanded by the position.Involved in design, engineering, and manufacturing of Maintenance projects and take the lead in communicating project status with all stakeholders.Supports equipment installations, startups, and validations.Understands the business and the impact of his/her position.Develops controls schedules as needed related to the department or projects.Performs other duties as necessary when directed to do so.The ideal candidate should possess the following:
Minimum five years’ experience as a Paper Machine Controls Technician in a manufacturing environment (preferably in an industrial environment and in paper production with skills in CMMS, DCS, QCS, PLC’s, VFD’s, instrumentation, contractor management). Certification or degree in Controls/Electrical components, Engineering, or related field preferredIs a recognized leader in the Paper Machine Controls Engineering department.Has a good working knowledge of the Paper Machine operationCan read and understand both P&ID’s and technical manuals/prints.Has demonstrated excellent data analyzing, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.Has demonstrated the ability to think systematically and to transfer knowledge to others.Has demonstrated a commitment to training other team members and is a recognized leader in this area.Excellent interpersonal skillsExcellent communication skills, both oral and writtenAbility to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.Is recognized as a self-starter.Proficient computer skills needed (E-mail, Word, Excel, INFOR, etc.)First Quality is committed to protecting information under the care of First Quality Enterprises commensurate with leading industry standards and applicable regulations.
