A fully competent Data Center Onsite Controls Technician - Applies an intensive and diversified knowledge of complete Controls and Building automation systems platforms such as EPMS (Electrical and Power Monitoring Systems), BAS Systems (Building Automation Systems), or BMS System (Building Monitor Systems) in a data center environment - testing and operations. Responsible for programming, integration, implementation commissioning, maintaining and providing emergency support on critical controls systems onsite.
They will troubleshoot, install, and make upgrades to existing automation systems for power and cooling systems in a live, mission-critical environment. They will assist in complete startup, commissioning, and validation procedures of these systems. They will collaborate with the Electrical and Mechanical Engineering / Design teams, Software Development teams, Project Managers, Construction Contractors, Equipment Vendors, Field Techs and other Site Operations teams to ensure the reliability, proper operations, acceptance of new and modified installations, automations and software solutions. Applies an intensive and diversified knowledge of complete BMS, BAS, EPMS - coding, testing and operations.
Responsibilities:
Conduct critical facilities Operations and Maintenance (O&M) program analysis and reportingWork with all vendors to ensure compliance with company guidelines and policiesOversee all change management and controls system upgrades while maintaining 100% uptime on all existing equipmentCoordinate with Design/Construction TeamsReview commissioning process for new construction and retrofits as it pertains to control processes and SOPSAssess, recommend and implement industry best practices into new and existing Critical Environment Programs.Take ownership of all QC / Quality Control of hardware installsProvide feedback to senior management for the continuous improvement of the Critical Environments programRepair and Troubleshoot controls systems and hardware (relays, controllers, etc)Develop process documentation and training materialsDirect and monitor subcontractors (onsite and offsite) including scheduling, resource management and coordination of construction and start-up services as needed. Construction trades generally include various electrical, mechanical and equipment suppliersInstall and wire BAS controllers and field devices including low voltage cable terminationsInstallation Coordination of BAS / HVAC Controls SystemsPlan site activities for your team including organize job site materials, logistics, inventory, tools storage and security / accessLead installation teams on daily and weekly meetingsSupport the development and execution of additional services through change ordersCutover panels and systems in retrofit projectsDevelop and Implement Methods of Procedure (MOPs) for site activitiesProvide input to project team on developing RFIs, estimating and takeoffs for proposalsPerforms commissioning focused design reviews, prepares commissioning test procedures and reports, coordinates and oversees on-site testing, Startup, Commissioning and Closeout of BAS / HVAC Controls SystemsAssist software lead with pre-functional and functional testingExecute troubleshooting of BAS systems including corrective actionsParticipate in commissioning efforts with external stakeholdersAnalyze system operation, work with project team to demonstrate system operation and verify consistency with the contracted scope of workPerform QA / QC of BAS and integrated systems using BAS software toolsProvide installation inspections and other closeout duties to ensure customer acceptanceProvide markups for shop drawings to document as-built conditionsCommunicate regularly with subcontractors, project managers, clients and commissioning agents on project progressDocument and track issues and out of scope effortsAutonomous in day-to-day work with being given high level instruction on projects or assignmentsDiscuss with technical support problems related to maintenance or operation of equipmentAttend project bid walks, engineering surveys, BAS audits, etcQA/QC peer reviews for projects which candidate is not the engineerOptimize workflow and deliverables by developing templates, standards, automations, etc.Communicate regularly with internal and external stakeholders, subcontractors, project managers, AEs and commissioning agents on project progressAssist / Develop all project communication and reporting, weekly progress reports, etc.Requirements:
Critical Facilities / Data Center experience a huge plus!Experience with: Honeywell, Struxware, or Allerton highly preferred! Distech Controls and Tridium Niagara BAS Platforms a plusPreferably 3-8+ years experience with BMS /BAS ControlsPrevious experience working on Controls Products from companies such as: Johnson Controls / JCI ; Siemens ; Automated Logic ; Honeywell ; GE Control Systems ; Schneider Electric ; Rockwell AutomationPLC / ALC ExperienceExperience with critical HVAC equipment (Chillers, Air Handlers, CRAC / CRAH units, Boilers, etc)Requires knowledge of equipment manufacturer’s specificationsAbility to interpret AE construction drawings, BAS shop drawings, manufacturers wiring diagrams, one-lines, blueprints, CAD Drawings, Control Diagrams, standards documentation, submittals and product data sheetsAbility to follow company and site safety requirementsMust be able to complete Field Service Reports and Assignments accurately and within a timely mannerAnalyze and prepare documents, reports and correspondenceCandidate must be willing to work nights & weekends when necessaryMS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams)Previous experience in the Military / Military veterans in all branches that have experience with Electrical / Mechanical is a huge plus (Navy nukes- EMN, ETN, MMNs, SeaBees, Army - Power Generation, Air Force – Power Production, Generator Techs, Maritime, Coast Guard, etc.)Requires excellent verbal, written communication skills & customer relation skillsAbility to work independently and resourceful with good initiativesAbility to successfully work independently; Self Starter and should prioritize wellProactive, resourceful, delegator and a multitaskerExceptional organizational skills with an attention to detailSubmittal Instructions:
