Controls Software Engineer
Responsibilities Make an impact

As a Controls Software Engineer, you will be part of the Controls operations team in Maranello, Italy. You are responsible for the concept, architecture, implementation, testing and commissioning of controls software and hardware solutions for Swisslog projects. You will play a key role in our realization phase and make our projects come alive. You will be involved in diverse projects, of varying complexity where you will have the opportunity to travel for the different phases of the projects within the south EMEA region, but also in other locations within EMEA.   You will be active in the creation of controls execution specifications in the Sales and Design phase based on the project / customer requirements. This may include estimation of controls software effort. You will be able to identify gaps between the requirements and standard functionality available from the standard software library. You will be actively involved in the engineering phase to provide controls input to the project deliverable, such as layout reviews. You will develop functional and safety code using standard tools, libraries and documentations to a high-quality level and proven by intensive in-house testing. You will travel to our customer sites to commission and test the software with the installed hardware and wider project team. You will support the on-site integration and acceptance testing. You will contribute to a safe work environment by following internal routines and procedures for Health, Safety and Environment. You will also continuously provide input and raise improvements based on lessons learned to share the knowledge within your team and our organization. Application Requirements What you need to succeed Academic diploma and/or practical experience in electrical / controls engineering. Industrial experience with knowledge of Siemens Simatic Classic S7, Siemens TIA and/or Beckhoff Twincat (other OOP languages in addition would be ideal). Knowledge of reading and understanding electrical schematic drawings. Practical experience in on-site commissioning activities. It is a plus if you have experience of Intralogistics and industrial warehouse systems such as conveyors, cranes etc.
