THE OPPORTUNITY
We currently have an opportunity for a motivated and talented Controls Support Engineer to join our Customer Service team based in Sydney. Play a leading role in the deployment and support of control systems, designing, documenting, testing and commissioning material handling automation hardware and PLC software. The position also provides opportunities to travel across a number of our customer locations within ANZ.
The successful candidate must have a professional self-driven manner and display a dedication to providing a high-quality output, along with an ability to work effectively under pressure in business-critical environments.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE
Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to control systems.
Provide second-level technical support to maintenance teams.
Participate in the on-call after-hours support roster.
Ensure compliance with OHS&E standards in all work.
Assist with budget costing and quoting.
Develop design documentation and functional specifications.
Conduct system diagnostics, analysis, and provide reports.
Prepare PLC programs, and configure SCADA/PLC equipment (e.g. HMI’s, scanners, VSD’s).
Plan and supervise controls installations.
Test and commission systems on-site (weekend work may be required).
Train client personnel and provide ongoing support.
Assist with interstate or overseas projects as needed.
Tasks and Qualifications:WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Degree qualified in engineering with tertiary qualifications in the areas of electronics/mechatronics engineering.
Ideally project design and project commissioning experience in Australia.
Knowledge and experience in, programming and commissioning of PLCs (Siemens S7 preferred), variable speed drives, barcode scanners and safety devices.
Knowledge of SCADA applications like ICONICS, CITEC and Ignition.
Knowledge of materials handling Control systems is highly desirable.
Experience writing technical documentation.
Ability to work without supervision and guide teams/projects.
Flexibility to travel interstate, regional areas and overseas
