Working within a multi-disciplined team of engineers at Dowty Propellers reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will support the business in meeting customer requirements, quality, timescale and cost. Projects will include new applications and in-service product support.

Job DescriptionJob DescriptionResponsibilities:-Define requirement for propeller control systems within industry standard systems engineering (ARP4754) and safety engineering (ARP4761) frameworksPropose cost-effective solutions for control systemsAnalyse control system performance in simulation environments that integrate propeller, engine and airframe elementsCreate requirements for controls units for subcontract design and manufactureDevelop high quality technical relationships with customers and suppliersLead technical activities with integrated project teams, and lead small teams of junior engineersProvide technical guidance that influences outcomes to other people, supporting moderate complexity projects and/or tasksComponent or Sub-assembly level analysis or hardware ownership          Responsible for project planning activities, including work tasks, project scope, schedule and budgetProactively anticipates events that impact customer deliverables and manage themProactively identifies and helps others recognize lessons learnedSupport on-going continuous improvement initiatives including the development of control system processes, including developing and owning technical work instructionsImplement and maintain GE standard of compliance and policySome overseas travel may be required during project integration, testing and certification activities.
Essential Qualifications:-BSc in Systems, Mechanical, Aerospace or Design Engineering, or equivalentExperience in aerospace or automotive system design, control systems or embedded systemsExperience of analysis of control system behaviour, simulation, and test verification of control systems behaviourWorking knowledge of ARP4754 and ARP 4761Proven track record in developing high-integrity or safety-critical control solutionsDemonstrated strong problem-solving skillsWorking knowledge of Matlab and SimulinkExperience of Doors requirements management toolLiterate with Microsoft Office tools
Desired Characteristics:-Experience of working with rotating machinery control systems.Experience of hydraulic system design and mechanical / systems integrationExperience of electro-hydraulic actuation or electro-mechanical actuation
