Controls Technician

We are looking for a Controls Technician to join our Operations team. This critical role will be responsible for the installation, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of control systems and equipment. This role ensures that all machinery and processes operate efficiently and safely through the application of technical knowledge and skills related to electrical, mechanical, and computer systems. What you’ll do:  

Install, maintain, and repair control systems, including PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, sensors, and actuators. Perform regular preventative maintenance on control systems to ensure optimal operation. Diagnose and resolve electrical, mechanical, and software issues in control systems, while utilizing diagnostic tools and software to identify and correct problems. Program and configure PLCs and other control devices to meet specific operational requirements, while modifying existing control programs to improve efficiency or adapt to changes in process requirements. Implement and follow lockout/tagout procedures during maintenance activities. Provide training and guidance to operators and other maintenance personnel on control system operation and troubleshooting.

What you’ll bring: 

Ideally 3 years+ of experience in control systems maintenance and troubleshooting in a manufacturing or industrial environment. Associate degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Industrial Automation, or a related field, or a  Bachelor's degree preferred. Proficiency in PLC programming (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens) accompanied with experience with electrical schematics and control panel design. Working Knowledge of HMI/SCADA systems, as well as familiarity with industrial communication protocols (e.g., Ethernet/IP, Modbus). Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Sensient Natural Ingredients is one of the largest producers and distributors in the world of dehydrated onion and garlic products as well as chili powder, paprika, chili pepper and dehydrated vegetables such as parsley, celery, and spinach. These ingredients are used in many of today's popular convenience foods. The Natural Ingredients unit is located in Livingston, California. 

The hourly wage for this position is $50.00 USD. Pay within the range is based on several factors, which may include, but are not limited to, education, work experience, specialized training, and labor market conditions.  In addition to salary, Sensient is proud to offer a comprehensive and competitive benefits program to support the holistic well-being of our employees and their families.
