Converse Positive Youth Engagement Fellow

The National Institute for Work and Learning (NIWL) – housed within FHI 360’s US Programs Unit – is improving lives in lasting ways. FELLOWSHIP:

The Converse Fellowship is a 1-year opportunity designed to equip a graduate or PhD student with the knowledge, skills, and experiences necessary to lead initiatives in corporate social responsibility (CSR) and programs grounded in positive youth development (PYD). This unique fellowship program combines academic learning, hands-on experience, and professional development opportunities to foster innovative leaders in these fields. The Converse Fellow will have an opportunity to work directly with Converse’s Social Community Impact (SCI) team. The fellow will be responsible for:

leading community, youth, and employee engagement events,developing curriculum and programs grounded in Positive Youth Development principles,providing technical assistance to program partners,supporting monitoring and evaluation elements to ensure quality impact and continuous improvement,researching and analyzing data and promising PYD practices,creating SCI tools and resources,supporting communications for programs,developing systems, strategies, and automated processes to support sustainable portfolio management.

This fellowship opportunity aims to create a new generation of leaders who are committed to making a positive impact through corporate social responsibility and positive youth development. By combining academic learning, practical experience, and professional development, the FHI 360 fellow will be well-equipped to drive meaningful change in their community and beyond. Enrollment in positive youth development or education policy related programs required.

The Converse Fellow will report to the Associate Director of Learning Development within NIWL and will be an FHI 360 employee. The fellow will sit with the Converse SCI team in Boston at their world headquarters to complete project-based work. The fellowship is structured as a hybrid environment with at least two days in-person on site at Converse world headquarters.

Description of the Fellowship:

The Converse Fellow will serve as part of NIWL’s Learning & Workforce Development team and will gain hands-on experience by supporting the Converse Social & Community Impact (SCI) portfolio. The Fellowship will provide training in a number of key projects with the Converse SCI team where the Fellow will take an active role in providing program and systems support, developing strategies and processes to increase youth and employee engagement efforts, as well as supporting monitoring and evaluation efforts.  

Anticipated Fellowship Placement:

This fellowship opportunity is slated to take place from February 2025 – December 2025. The fellow will work part-time (20 hours/week) during the Spring and Fall semesters, and full-time (40 hours/week) during the Summer.

Education:

Bachelor's Degree or its International Equivalent in Education, Human Services, Human Development and Family Services, Urban and Community Studies, Citizenship and Civic Engagement, Research, Technology and Youth or Related Field required.Graduate or PhD student currently enrolled in positive youth development or applied research in youth development programs or related field required.

Experience:

Experience in positive youth development and youth programs required.Experience with event planning and logistics preferred.Prior experience with database management preferred.US program development or project management preferred.

Location:

Boston, MA. Applicants must be in commutable distance to the Converse office in Boston.

Technology to be Used:

Computer/Laptop (Mac required), Microsoft applications (i.e., Office 365, SharePoint, Zoom/Teams), AirTable, Slack, Keynote, cell phone/mobile technology, and standard office equipment.

Travel Requirements:

10% - 15%

Hourly Pay Range: $25.93 - $30.00/ hour
