Position Overview:Legends/ASM Global, the leader in privately managed public assembly facilities, has an excellent and immediate opening for a Cook at the Long Beach Convention and Entertainment Center. The Cook will be responsible for preparing food in a timely, efficient, sanitary, and consistent manner. This role requires the ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment while maintaining strong organizational skills to handle job duties quickly and effectively. The Cook must be a team player, adhere to safety procedures, and be comfortable working in a kitchen with high heat levels.
Please note that the Long Beach Convention and Entertainment Center Food and Beverage employees are covered by a collective bargaining agreement with Unite Here Local 11, and union membership is a condition of employment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
+ Set up stations and gather all necessary supplies for menu preparation.
+ Prepare a variety of food items including meat, seafood, poultry, vegetables, and cold food items.
+ Properly label and date food items for storage.
+ Maintain sufficient levels of food products to ensure a smooth service period.
+ Assist with the cleaning, sanitation, and organization of the kitchen and walk-in coolers.
+ Consistently comply with standard portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards, and kitchen rules, policies, and procedures.
+ Use food preparation tools following manufacturer instructions.
+ Close the kitchen correctly, following the closing checklist for kitchen stations.
+ Maintain and sanitize work areas, coolers, and storage spaces.
+ Assist with additional responsibilities as assigned by the Executive Chef or Sous Chef.
+ Prepare dishes for customers with food allergies or intolerances.
+ Ensure all storage areas are tidy, and products are appropriately stored.
+ Adhere to safe and hygienic food handling practices.
+ Return dirty food preparation utensils to designated areas.
+ Assist with any other tasks as assigned by the Executive Sous Chef.

Education and Experience:
+ Must be 18 years or older to apply.
+ High school diploma or GED required.
+ Current ServSafe certification required.
+ At least 3 years of experience in food service and meal preparation.
Skills and Abilities:
+ Ability to produce quality food in a fast-paced environment.
+ Positive attitude and customer service orientation.
+ Strong work ethic and reliability.
+ Strong knowledge of sanitary practices.
+ Maintain proper grooming and dress code standards.
+ Ability to work well with other staff members in the facility.
+ Ability to multitask and manage time effectively.
+ Strong attention to detail.
Other Qualifications:
+ Must be available to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

+ Regular movement around the facility, standing for long periods during events, and engaging in conversation.
+ The position may require both indoor and outdoor work depending on event requirements.
+ Stooping, bending, and lifting up to 25 lbs to waist height.
