Essential Functions:  

The Cook prepares food and provides food service to patients, employees and other guests, meeting safety needs in compliance with federal, state, and local requirements. Reviews the menu and the customer or patient's order requirements to determine the type and quantity of food to be prepared. Maintains a sanitary working environment and aids in the kitchen as needed. 

Prepares hot food items for patient service, employees, cafeteria, and guests: 

Assures quality and quantity control by use of standardized recipes and daily worksheets. Ensures 

production meets time requirements. 

Uses recipes to ensure accurate taste, portion and consistent. 

Stores food at correct temperatures. 

Prepares requisitions and records food production: 

Prepares daily food requisitions to meet production needs and records daily food production. 

Uses tallies to avoid food under or over production and ensures prevention of waste and pilferage. 

Preparation and operation of cook station, portion control, food safety and appearance: 

Ensures accurate portions as per menu and diet requirements. 

Prepares assigned cook station and readies required equipment as per timelines. 

Maintains stock levels of required food supplies during line operation. 

Follows safety policies and procedures: 

Handles, labels, dates, and stores food according to regulatory agency standards of sanitation and food 

safety. 

Serves food according to sanitary procedures. 

Operates, maintains, cleans, and sanitizes equipment, utensils and worktables. 

Washes hands, wears gloves as well as clean clothes and hair covers. Uses clean utensils and service ware. 

Keeps foods at correct temperatures to avoid cross-contamination and prevent food borne illness. 

  

Job Qualifications:     

Ability to read and understand oral English communication  

Minimum of 2-5 years of previous professional cooking experience  

Proven knowledge of the basic principles of food preparation, various cooking methods and food safety regulations, such as proper food handling, sanitation and food storage  

Must be able to obtain food safety certification  

Demonstrates basic math and counting skills  

Demonstrates interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal  

Requires occasional lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling of up to 25 lbs.
