Cook Assistant - Part Time (Benefit Eligible)
**Location:** Freeman, SD **Worker Type:** Regular **Work Shift:** Day Shift (United States of America) Freeman Regional Health Service is looking for individuals to join our growing, team-oriented organization. **Position Highlights** **Nutrition Services Cook Assistant** **Location:** **Freeman Regional Health Services** **Worker Type:** **Part Time - Benefit Eligible (working at least 48 hours per pay period)** **Work Shift:** Day Shift (5:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.) Rotating weekends/holidays **Brief Overview** Cooking and distributing meals is rewarding when you're doing it to comfort residential or recovering patients. Your work directly supports healthcare workers, residents, and guests with quality customer service through snack and meal preparation, assembly and cleanup. You’ll like working with a purpose while interacting with others in an energetic, caring workplace. In a food and services role, you can deliver a great service experience with delicious meals and a positive attitude. **What you will do:** + Prepare food items for assigned area. + Meet standards established by Leader for food preparation, quality, sanitation, and efficiency. + Follow extended menu and standardized recipes, memorize basic foods allowed on modified diets, use Diet Manual as a reference and keeps work area orderly and sanitary. + Stock refrigerator, storerooms, work areas with appropriate labeling and dating procedures, food temperature record keeping, breaking down boxes. + Serve meals/beverages with attention to temperature maintenance. + Mentor new employees and assists with their orientation. + Lead, by example, following Freeman Regional Health Services CARE standards. **Required Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience:** + High School or GED Equivalent + High school or vocational school coursework in kitchen basics such as food safety, preferred. **Essential Qualifications:** The individual must be able to work the hours specified. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job function satisfactorily including having visual acuity adequate to perform position duties and the ability to communicate effectively with others, hear, understand and distinguish speech and other sounds.
